Purchased a Thinkware U1000D and I am reviewing options on how to mount the rear camera. I do roll down my rear window often so mounting it on the glass it not an option. Curious what others have done. Might 3d print a bracket that slips above the headliner…..

    Alot of them
That would work. I have seen where some have used aluminum to make a bracket. I think your idea is better...less damage from rubbing. If you make one that works, let me know. I would be interested in buying one from you. :)

I used a small 90 deg piece of aluminum attached my rear camera to that then used 3M extreme double sided tape to affix it to the plastic trim above the center of the rear glass inside the cab. Gives me a nice wide angle of the rear, virtually eliminating blind spots and a view of what's in the bed.

Could you please post a pic of your setup with this bracket? Thanks.

No problem. I'll have to do it later today as I'm at work (I know, I'm a bad employee right now). Also as a disclaimer, I previously just used the double sided tape that was on the camera originally and it had fallen. I now have Gorilla tape wrapped around the unit and bracket for about 3 weeks now and has since been good.

This should be a little nicer than my ghetto "screws in headliner" setup I have now.

Do you have the 1" or 2" version of the bracket?

If memory serves me correct, I believe it's the 1" version. I'll definitely get you pics in a few hours. I also have it hooked up to the VIOFO A129 Pro Duo.

This is great! I've been contemplating for weeks now how I would mount the rear camera with my sliding rear window. Looks like problem solved!

Here's the photos as requested. Looks like I have the 1" version so that means both should work. I do notice I need to adjust my headliner since it appears it's not properly tucked. Again, I'm using Gorilla tape in the meantime until I find a better solution. Hardly noticeable unless you're right on it. Hope these help!

Thanks for posting. I might pickup the 1" version. the Thinkware rear is more a horizontal layout and it appears there is plenty of room for it to work.

I used a flat hard plastic sheet about 8x8 (old tucker mud flap) drilled two holes in it and removed the middle headrest marked the holes and stuck it through the plastic. Mounted the cam to that. I don't even see it because it's hidden by the headrest. I kept it about 1" away from the glass so I could roll the window down.

I have the roll-down rear window. After reading about all the different options for mounting a rear-facing camera, I ended up with two strong earth magnets. I slid one up into the headliner, and mounted the other to the rear-facing camera with 3M tape. Then just stuck it to the headliner.

I appreciate it. I definitely wouldn't suggest getting one unless you color match it. The flat black on any of the colors just looks too out of place and makes it looks like it's just floating up there, lol. I know people on here are polarized on the spoiler, but with it blending so well, I haven't heard anyone disagree with my choice on getting it.

Also, as a side note, I got rid of the Gorilla Tape and found a more permanent solution to make the rear dash cam more presentable.

Please do tell, I tried one of those metal mounting brackets but I couldn't get it to work with the 129 rear cord setup.

So, I had to bend the bracket in order for it to align properly. If that doesn't make sense, let me know and I can try to do my best in taking better photos. But here's a few I took with bending the bracket and using super glue. Hasn't been an issue for the past 2 years.

So I think I see where I went wrong here, I got this https://www.thedashcamstore.com/custom-metal-mounting-bracket-for-adhesive-dashcam-lenses/ But you're using this one right? https://www.thedashcamstore.com/custom-folded-bracket-for-secondary-dashcam-lenses/ I went and got the smaller version thinking it could go under the headliner but your one actually mounts to the interior metal under the rubber molding. Looks like I gotta order the right version!

You got it! Also keep in mind that you don't have to bend the bracket like I did. I just wanted to based on how it fit with the Viofo rear cam.

Just got one of the brackets and its not that great. It looks like someone painted it with the cheapest can of paint, which doesn't to stick to the metal and comes off. Mounting the cam to the bracket does not seem to hold.. Also, zero instructions on the site. The mount does not fit no matter how you try to mount it.. Does anyone know how to mount it, now matter what i try it either sticks out too far for the window not to close, or its really loose and is moving all over the place. I also use the u1000, and just put a binder clip for the rear, works great and super cheap.

If someone has a minute, could you show me how to remove the back window weatherstripping? The ones around the doors are pretty easy to remove, but the back one didn't budge. I'm a bit of a chicken to yank on it. I ordered the Dashcam Store custom folded bracket mentioned above.

    Thanks.
