Hey everybody, I just got my truck back from having an alignment and some other dealer service and they told me that “your rear shocks are bad, they were installed incorrectly and they’re too far gone to be fixed so they will need to be replaced.” They said the ride was really bouncy.. I’ve got rough country M1 shocks, coach builder +2s, and E-rated 295/70/18s. I agree the ride is a little bouncy but it’s what I came to expect with that setup…

I had the shocks installed by a different shop that, up until this point I trusted. I took a picture of the upper shock mount and I was hoping someone here could point out anything that looks problematic.

My gut is telling me that the guy who test drove the truck doesn’t know what’s going on. Maybe I’m wrong.

    Thanks,

Looks correct, but can’t see the lower washer and bushing on the top mount. Rough Country uses an oe style bushing with the 2 washers on top while most aftermarket shocks do not. Picture attached showing correct bushing orientation, red line represents the vehicle shock mount, above it is what you see in your picture, below the line is how the lower top mount washer and bushing should look.

Let's see a pick of the lower washer and bushing on each shock.

Yeah, are you missing the lower rubber and washers?
They don't look tightened to me. The rubber should bulge

Thanks for the replies everyone! These are the best images of the lower mount I could get at the moment. It’s hard to see on the picture but I can feel that there is a rubber bushing in place. IMG_1487.jpgIMG_1490.jpg

Not terrible, but I think they could be tightened up just a bit to compress the rubber a bit more. Pretty sure the person who drove your truck has no idea of the daily feel.

hi. had a factory 2017 tundra failure turns out the factory did not onstal the washer and rubber cusion at all. only the rear pasanger side shock was missing parts from factory. the rubbing metal on metal caused the metal clip to break and shock pertruted
