I admit that this is a strange question, but after owning this truck (2024) for over a month, I have just now focused on the fact that there are no liners in the rear wheel well between the tire and the bed. Seems odd a) that there's not any protection for lines and hoses back there, and b) that I can see from side-to-side under the bed.

I'm guessing this is as designed, or did the factory forget a couple of parts here? Thanks for humoring my ignorant question.

Yeah, they come with a partial liner, but it still leaves the frame rail exposed. It's still better than a lot of trucks that come with nothing by default around the rear wheels. Look up ark splash guards. They have inner fender liners for front and rear that help close off the remaining gaps.

i reckon, its a standard cost saving tactic, hang in there husky liner/weathertech will capitalize on it soon.

Thanks, everyone, those are good suggestions. On the one hand, I'm glad to know I'm not crazy to think this is not normal. On the other hand, it's strange/frustrating that a $80k truck doesn't come with these.

It’s just as wacky as the front wheel wells that have a liner made of something that looks like carpet. I just don’t get what they were thinking with that one.

Some other oem's may have them but I know GM doesn't. Their inner wells are body color. Really noticable on light colored vehicles.

Ram has had them for years. My 2015 had factory one pieces on all 4 wheel bays and they looked great.

GM used to have them years ago but they were the fabric type on all 4 wheel bays. I don't think I there hold up as well as good old thick plastic. No idea what Ford has since I never even glance at a Ford product

The two details that Toyo totally bypassed are this and a rear seat storage cover that unfolds to create a flat rear seat floor. Both very easy to do as OEM installs. Both PITAs to DIY as demonstrated by multiple threads here attempting to solve these OEM gaps. Neither are show stoppers but a true nice to have for many buyers. Does beg the question if Toyo even benchmarks the completion.

On the 07 to 21 tundras without the added wheel well protection the underside of the box becomes sandblasted leading to a complicated process to fix.

I thought the fabric liners were gram engineering. Weighed a few grams less than plastic ones.
