I was surprised to find out my trucks rear window is a power window. It is also factory tinted which i like.

Not sure you needed to create a thread on it....but yes, it's an awesome feature.

Also stickers can go on the back glass and rolling the window down will not mess with them. Truly a cool feature

Owners manual states not to drive with the window down. They didn't say why?
    Who writes those things???

It’s a liability thing. You could suck in exhaust fumes with that window down. It’s fine as long as you have other windows down etc.

It's terrifying to picture someone being 1lb over payload AND has the rear window down. I'd probably faint and crash just from the horror!

One reason you'll find out is when you roll down the window in the fall and a few leaves are in the truck bed and get sucked up into the cab.

Perhaps. But the Tundra is not the first vehicle to ever have a power rear window.

I just find it funny the manual states not to drive that way but then says nothing else about it...

Agreed. I have a DC with a 6.5 bed, and have done back window down with or without front window venting. No one died, but short trips and I can recall at least once, I noticed exhaust.

In nice weather I frequently drive with the rear window down and sunroof/moonroof/whatever open. It’s perfectly safe. After all, I’m ok, there’s nothing wrong with me. Well it probably depends on who you ask. There are some people who would tell you that my mind is not quite right. They’re just jealous that the voices talk to me. It has nothing to do with open rear windows and/or exhaust fumes.

Because dog hair from your border collie goes everywhere and you end up spitting out the window and it landing on your back seat

It is a great feature, only on Toyota’s. Try this when you’re driving with the moonroof vented there is a lot of wind noise; just crack the rear window the the noise is now gone and there is more air flow.

While exhaust fumes can be sucked in the back window....I've also found it's handy for getting rid of 'exhaust fumes' in a hurry.

If you have a topper on, one can open the rear cab window to allow hot air to escape on really hot days when the truck is parked.

The one thing that is a little annoying is the rear window will develop a whistle at high speeds if the HVAC is on recirc.

When I bought my Tundra, the salesman said the rear window on the SR5 didn’t roll down. Then while showing me how different things on the dash worked, I asked him what this rocker switch did...

    Voila! The window rolled down....

It's awesome and keeps the wind from buffetting you with the side windows down. Just don't roll it down after it's been raining and there is rain on the roof :anonymous:

Same. I can't tell you the # of times I've done it and then seen people jump up and down and point at the truck as if to say "Look at THAT! Why can't my truck do that?" :D

That's not how wind dynamics works...haha. so exhaust fumes (under the truck, 6ft away) wont get sucked back in??? Someone slept in science class.
