I just purchase a 2023 Tundra Platinum, MY Build 08/23. Looks like they are recalling up to MY build 02/23. Anyone have any thoughts? Will recall expand? Literally just got truck this week....and then recall issued. Been a little nervous to driver her!

They didn't tell you to bring it to dealer. They not going do anything until something happens. If you are that worried about it. Send oil sample off. Kinda like doing www.cologuard.com . You know what it is like on inside.

None of you guys are helpful. She’s asking a serious question so just answer her instead of just passing it off. Now, to answer your question, just drive it! Don’t be afraid of it. Very few of the total amount of Tundras made have had the issue. And most of those are the 22 model year. Yes there are a number of ‘23s and supposedly a couple 24s but what are you gonna do? We just have to wait. We have seen that Toyota’s fit and finish is, on average, getting better through the model years and they are getting on top of safety concerns such as this. You’ll be fine. Don’t let the constant chatter of people scared get to you, especially because bad news always seems to carry louder on the internet than good news. That 1% minority of problems are just louder right now because of Toyota’s announcement. You bought the truck. For now, just drive it. All you can really do is be patient or trade it in. But you bought it so I assume you wanted it so then just enjoy the truck.
    :)

Thanks for the post, Harrison. I love the truck and will keep it. I do believe Toyota stands by their product. I figure, if anything happens with the engine, it will be covered with the recall. I also purchased extended warranty for 8 years. Will just keep checking my VIN number with recall site. If it does end up being recalled, I want to get on the list for repair ASAP.

Hope the warranty was a Toyota one purchased through our friend in Kansas; if not then cancel and reconsider purchasing through him. Your truck is new enough from an age perspective, if miles are under 36k then he can set you up. I would not be in a rush to get recall work done if your truck is running fine, let the techs get the process figured out on someone else's truck before you subject yours to it.

The truck that I just got was a dealer loaner. It only has 2300 miles and seems to be doing great. Oil is clean; haven't noticed any issues. Definitely going to keep an eye on things.
