Might be the reason so many Tundras on inspection hold. Also it might affect some on the road already.

I will say...I really like the Toyota app for this functionality. If a recall occurs, they can identify the affected vehicles and then do a push notification out to those owners through the app. It sure does beat hearing about a recall on the web and then waiting/wondering if you'll get a recall notice one day through the snail mail.

Recalls still suck, but at least this makes the process a tad bit easier. IMHO.

This have to do with that one truck that lost all 4 bolts on the right rear? Guess it wasn't tampered with like some guys claimed.

Saw this on the app today. Called my dealer. They said it‘a not recall yet but the interim notice meaning the dealer has no details on what to do.

so right now it’s a waiting game.

I believe this is what is referred to as Toyota S.O.P. I hate to through out the technical industry terms, but just wanted to catch everyone up to speed.

Just saw that I have the notification on mine.
I assume if you have the notice it’s not a generic thing and your VIN is one of the suspected ones that need to be checked?

Is it a matter of them not being torqued correctly or are they breaking and need to be replaced all together?

Talked to the dealer in BC and they hadn't heard about it. They said nothing to do but wait for the actual solution to come out from Toyota as it's an interim notice. Not super impressed with my first Toyota....also going to take it in and get them to check out the ridiculous wind noise.

I appreciate this forum. Just checked the app because of this thread, and I’m now at the Toyota dealer getting it dealt with.

Called my dealer when I saw the recall on the Toyota app. They said bring it in any time, shouldn’t be any parts to order and it’ll take an hour or less.

I drove it out there immediately and that’s exactly what happened. No big deal, thank goodness.

Yeah I am not sure this is even worth a trip to the dealer. It would take like 3 minutes to check and torque the nuts vs half a day to drive to the dealer and sit around while they put it on a lift and do it.

I guess I'll crawl under this weekend to see if I'm missing any bolts from the axle flange...or see if any are loose.

Just crawled under mine (also on the recall list) and all 8 nuts are home safe… set the torque wrench to 70 ft lb and got immediate clicks… needed no extra torquing… just planning to mention to dealer at my next visit…

Might be a good idea to get it on the Toyota system as done. But I also agree with your approach.

I just had my 22 tundra recall on the backup camera and the rear axle assembly. all they do is check to make sure that all the bolts on the rear axle assembly are tight. I was informed they had to tighten one bolt. Did both recalls at my local Toyota dealer in EL Cajon Ca, on 06-21-22.
