Gave me a message I had not seen before. Not sure how I could ensure well ventilated conditions, but I had the AC cranked anyway as it was high 90’s here in Colorado today.
    IMG_3220.jpg

Then I believe it added the Toyota buttons to the left of Car Play. Pretty sure before Car Play took up the whole screen. Could anyone verify that for me?

See them diagonal arrows. Hit that and side buttons disappear.

I did the update and now CarPlay won’t recognize my phone and the screen goes black. Super annoying. Has anyone else had this issue?

Been having weird issues on mines . Sometimes it won’t connect I have to shut it off and on .

I thought it was because I downloaded Apple beta update on my iPhone

This makes me wonder if I should download the update when it's offered. My unit still says "No updates available" and I'm on V1050. Carplay on the version I'm using is pretty solid as long as you have a good cell service connection. I do like the looks of the new side menu feature, however. Is there anything else that is new?

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
That's about all I noticed too on this update, the addition of the maximize/side bar for toyota options which I do appreciate. 2 updates - one carplay and 1 for navigation. I don't pay toyota for the navigation so I wouldn't know what changed.

I had an update on AA about 3 weeks ago. Didn't want to connect until connected again after update. Now all is well.

I had the update a couple of weeks ago. No issues whatsoever. I like the new side bar.

Anybody figure out how to get rid of the Toyota side bar when you switch over to CarLinKit box?

Now if they'd only update to enable a split screen on the 14" screen. It's a big enough screen to accommodate nav, phone, and audio in one screen like the old system used to do and pretty much every other manufacturer does. And I know I can split screen in CarPlay, but I don't like CarPlay because it never seems to work seamlessly and I don't want to deal with the BS.

I was hoping that this update would make CarPlay work better. It's the worst CarPlay implementation of any vehicle I've owned using XM which I use probably 80% of the time. The problem is, in CarPlay mode there is an annoying delay changing stations, it drops with weak cell service and most annoyingly, for reasons not clear, it overweights the sound to the front center speaker. Flip to the native system and XM works great but I'm doing the back and forth. Toyota/Lexus has never been top of the stack at infotainment but this one isn't dialed in at all.

I'm a fan of XM and have radio set to dark mode and XM only and have wifi off on my ancient andriod, as noticed it doesn't work as well as on last gen and didn't care for the radio face to be basically an extension of my phone. Plus having passengers see texts/calls. IMO all calls and texts can wait and just enjoy my favoite XM channels. That and all the awesome camera angles :)

I listen to a lot of NHL radio ftr, but haven't noticed bad music quality. Def not an audiophile and don't know anything about kbps lol.

For me it's all real time stuff. CNBC, Bloomberg, Golf Channel, ESPN etc. I mean, is there anything duller than the Golf Channel? Doe extra fidelity make it more boring? :)

I usually listen to NFL Radio, but will occasionally bump the tunes when the wife and kids are in the car. Like above, I'm no audiophile either, but the music sounds good to me. At least as good as it can on stock Tundra system.

I figured out my issue with the CarLinKit box. I have the TBox Plus Android 12 version and needed to upgrade the firmware to the Android 13 version. This seems to have worked with part of my screen being overshadowed by the annoying, permanent Toyota side menu bar. The Toyota side menu bar remains on the screen, but at least it's not obstructing any of the view from the CarLinkit box screen. If anyone needs help, please feel free to reach out. I have an Android phone so I use Android Auto when I'm not switched over to the CarLinKit box.

It did for me. iPhone13 now links in seconds after my profile is up. Used to take longer. Still looking for other changes. Makes no sense why they don’t list the updates (or I haven’t found the list)

I looked for the updates and gave up.
My rub isn't the linking times, I don't like the way it handles audio and lacks the ability to do split screens. The bar on the left helps.

I’m glad they made the Toyota menu permanent along the left side. So much easier to jump back to broadcast radio. Split screens? Different than what we already have? (The 8 little white dots button in the lower left?) Has always worked great for us. I get the mapping system of my choice and my wife gets her music screen with titles, artist and basic controls.

The 8 dots are in CarPlay?
I’ve tried but I just don’t like CarPlay on the screen in any of my cars.
I do really like that with this update I can hotkey back and forth easily.

Yes. 4 dots to go to CarPlay Split Screen. 8 dots to switch back to the regular CarPlay Home Screen.

I wish the update provided the Toyota left most base menu bar (shown for Carplay above) with Android Auto

Much happier with the update. it was annoying to have to go into an app and have to navigate a secondary menu just to change the radio, granted, the steering wheel was/is much easy to navigate.
still frustrating you cannot see the radio station on the screen without being in the “Toyota” app.

So is this the slowest software roll out ever? I'm in Canada and have a 2023. I've been hearing about this update for months and still nothing for me. Part of me wonders if maybe we aren't getting it OTA up North.

Yeah, I agree. Mine is the same. Now when watching a movie on Netflix the screen is not fully covered. So it is annoying. Make not worth watching anymore. Toyota needs to fix this.
