    Crewmax or double cab?
10% of your trucks towing capacity is a good rule of thumb for safe tongue weight capacity.

Pay attention to your GVWR and do not exceed that. This and towing capacity should both be in your owners manual and/or the driver side door jamb sticker.

Does your truck have the tow package and factory trailer brake controller installed in it?

This is a perfect example of one of many folks who post here. Great simple and accurate advice. It’s why I love to just scroll through topics on this forum. So much to learn from others.

Thanks for the response and to all who participate on this forum.

Ok that is good, definitely stuff you need if you are looking to pull a travel trailer. Take some time and read through the Towing/hauling forum that I posted a link to above. There is tons of valuable information that will help you figure out what your truck is capable of and what you will be confident towing behind your truck. Aftermarket trailer brake controllers, suspension upgrades, tire ratings, transmission coolers, all good things to educate yourself about before making a purchase. This will help make for a fun and safe experience towing your camper or anything else down the road! Post some pictures and info of what you are hoping to buy and that can also help get more specific information on what you are looking for.
