I have a John Deere X320 and a Harley FXDSE Screamin Eagle that I would like to load in the back of my crewmax. I would not be loading these more than 1-2 times per year, but not something I want to cheap out on. I prefer something wide enough where I can walk it up the ramp and arched for clearance.

Any suggestions from those with experience? Below are the dimension of my lawn tractor and the Tundra.

They look nice, will it fit in the bed after loading?

That was my concern regarding the ramp in the picture. It is still 5 feet in length when folded. Tough to haul to the next destination for unloading.

I have seen (and done) some failed ramp loading with motorized two wheeled vehicles. A trailer is worth it....trust me. Even if you only use it a couple times a year, it may prevent this....and this sucks (especially with a HD):

X2, Lowe's and Tractor Supply have 5x8 trailers for not much more than that ramp.

I am surprised that a Harley will fit in the back of a crewmax, even with the tailgate. Also, that's a lot of weight to be placing on the tailgate considering the stress you put on the cables when you go over a bump.

Anyway, I am in the 'get a trailer' camp. I use a Karavan 6' x 10' landscape style trailer that I got from Sam's club for about 1500 bucks. I carry my Cub cadet on it once in a while. I also use it for fetching lumber and moving firewood, so it is handy to have a trailer rather than beat up the bed of the truck. They also sell a 5' x 8' model for less. Stay away from the cheap trailers sold by Harbor Freight, they are flimsy and will not hold up.

i'd say to go with a trailer. i've loaded up a stretched motorcycle in a truck as well as a mower. both have a lil bit of sketchyness to them, are a lil bit more difficult, and of course take up the bed space while loaded up. you'll use the trailer for more than just the mower and bike. those ramps are about 5-600 bucks. a small BRAND NEW trailer with a lil gate will be close to 6-700. just my $.02 from someone that's used and done both

I have the ramps and a trailer but I only load my ATV not a motorcycle or lawn tractor.

Truthfully I will agree with everyone that says get a trailer. Much simpler, safer, and less possible damage to the truck. Well worth the extra few bucks each year for a trailer...

Ill load my Moto up in the back of my Truck, but it only weights 300lbs. Anything heavier id want to put on a trailer.

Thanks for everyone's input. I agree that a trailer would be ideal but I don't have anywhere to store the trailer between usage. But I certainly don't want to star in a YouTube fail video trying to load a bike in the truck bed. For the time being, I'll look at renting a trailer in the near term.

Opening this thread up on oringL post. Any recommendation on an atv ramp for truck bed?

I have a trailer and will put my atv and lawn tractor on. I’d like to put son’s 125 grizzly in back of DC to haul all three. Would like to walk it up rather than ride. Looked at trifold full wide about 6.5-7 feet long. Am I buying trouble? Or reasonable set up for this use?

Give it a shot. I do recommend pinning the ramp to the trailer like in the video or using straps for tie downs. My ATV trailer back in the day had a low bump rail, so I just used straps. I could put 4 sideways on the trailer and one in the bed. Worked great.
