Alright I installed these on a 23 platinum tundra. The turn signal and driving light functions work fine. But I need help figuring out the courtesy light feature. They’re supposed to come on when you unlock the truck or open a door.

I have tried tapping into the dome light fuse. The lights come on but never power off. After the dome light goes off they stay on.

I tried wiring to the rear cargo light, same result. Also tried the little courtesy light that shines on the floor. Same result. No matter where I wire them the white lights stay on all the time and never power off.

I would really appreciate any ideas on how to get this feature to work, it’s literally the entire reason I purchased the lights. Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately it’s not that easy on the 23 Tundra. The dome light is a ground controlled circuit. So the hot wire is always hot. The circuit is controlled on the ground side. Basically to turn the dome light on the ecu only makes a ground when the dome light is on. So it always has power it just doesn’t always have a ground. So wiring these lights up to the done light positive wire makes the leds stay on all the time. I believe I’m going to have to add a relay, I just have to figure out how.

What about using the trailer light harness or the wires that go to the harness? I would think they ran under the truck and up into the cab at some point.

I’m actually going to put a circuit tester on those wires to see if that location will work. I actually spoke to recon and they advised me that in this scenario I will need to install a 5 pin relay and sent me a wire diagram of how to install it. I picked up a relay at advanced auto so if the trailer wire doesn’t look as if it’ll work the realy will be next.

If you did this, could you have them blink with your blinkers?

Depends on the lights you get. I have not actually installed mine yet, waiting on a few items to get delivered.

So, do it just like the dome light. Hot wire to the light and control the ground from the dome light. Just a thought.
