I added a Redarc brake controller to my 2015 and thought I’d show a few pics of how I did it.

A big thanks to mverkaik for saving me from making an expensive mistake. I bought an OEM Integrated Brake Controller (IBC) off of Amazon and ignored the description telling me that the IBC only works on 2016+ because all the reviews claimed the controller works great in their 2015. There were even pictures of the center display showing the IBC connected and working. Mike let me know that even though it looks like it’s working, at higher speeds there is actually very little braking applied. Thanks again, Mike.

The Redarc is plug-and-play with the harness. I chose the empty shelf space directly behind the switch panel. There wasn’t enough surface area to use screws on both sides, so I used industrial strength 3M velcro. I bought the custom switch blank, and added some paint stick marker to fill in the etched lettering.08CB8FDE-96B9-4197-A0A2-E65120FEF13A.jpgBAE4C9A1-325A-4B24-A704-0EF20ABCEE0D.jpgA22A7A97-5CAE-4D09-82C3-C131DA459D8C.jpg1C05F46C-489E-41F7-BEBC-93236336F32D.jpg

I’m really pleased with the results. It looks almost factory, and no more knee-banging. And it’s cheaper than the IBC, which won’t work anyway.

Thanks guys. I have a 14’ without a brake controller. The Tekonsha P3 seems good, but this seems like a better option performance wise. Also doesn’t hurt that the small knob is very sleek looking compared to stuffing the P3 halfway into my dash in front of my knee.

I just bought one of these for my 2010 Base model, it does have trailer package with Tow Haul.
Only had the truck 10 days now. Looking forward to installing this and setting it up with my buddies
    trailer.

JMGmanAZ- Looks like you have a 1794(like me). Did you just remove the BSM switch and replace with the Redarc? All 3 of my switch banks are occupied with factory switches already, and I am trying to figure out where to put the knob.

My BSM is on the other side. I removed the Parking Aid switch since the front sensors were never reinstalled after the bumper install (previous owner).

Whoops, you're right. My Parking aid is there, too and the BSM is on the left side. I may just run the knob over to a fairly flat spot somewhere on the left. Thanks for answering!

Just going to look at installing tomorrow. Has anyone got a pic of the factory plug location by the left kick panel?

I put mine right in front of the gear shifter. Make sure it’s easy to see, you don’t want to be messing around if you have to adjust it while driving.

I'll put the dial controller in the one of the dash plugs. I'm just curious to see the actual Toyota plug that the controller plugs into
    on the factory harness.

Seems like my 2010 with tow package and Tow/Haul Mode has a Tekonsha connector. I know this truck hasn’t been modified so wondering how common this plug is? The White plug is what came with my Redarc Liberty tow controller package.
Okay, I'm a bit embarrassed. I traced the PO wiring and he had the factory plug all neatly tucked away up front above the fuse box.
So I removed his, and it was a longer putting all the bits back together than installing the controller. Mine is same position as the pics above. So
looking forward to hooking up and seeing how it works.

How is the redarc break controller working out for you? I was looking to install one on my 2011 Toyota tundra. Will there be any issues with an older tundra. Redarc website seems to only advertise 2015 models and up.

I didn’t get a chance to hook up to a trailer before I got called to work. I was going to pull
a buddies 19’ Sun Cruiser trailer but fell thru last minute.
If you look on Redarc website they make connections for early 1st Gen/. Separate from 2nd Gen and then later models. Yours is same as mine and the connection is plug and play.

Here is the kit got. I went with the Liberty Manual Controller. Slightly cheaper and I’m not gonna
run 3 axle trailer in my lifetime. LOL. This is Tundra 2003-2014.
My experience so far is that no matter what model - Base , SR5 , TRD Pro etc that most of the wiring harnesses are attached to bodies along the assembly line. Before assigned particular model so there is a very good chance that even though you Tundra isn’t sold with say ‘heated windshield’ with the heated mirrors chances are the plug is there. It happened on my ‘07 SR5 when I replaced the windshield he ordered the window with the heater elements and sure enough the plug was there.
My base model 2010 RCSB has manual windows but it has tow package and tow/haul mode so I
was confident when the Liberty controller arrived I’d find the plug. Just took a while but it’s there.
