Can't find anything on this but I am sure is discussed somewhere here. So I got the Tundra trial / free services for one year including remote start. Works nice and can start me truck remotely but when I open the door the engine shuts off? Can I disable that behavior? I have TIS - Techstream available if it has been done. Just don't wanna chase any rabbit holes.

Its a Feature. Never heard of anyone bypassing it though I'm sure its some kind of possible. Oh and btw once remoted On it will only run 10 mins and shut off anyway. Luck.

If you have push button start your stuck with it shutting off after opening doors. Even aftermarket. If you have a key, aftermarket stays running.

Yeah it's been discussed on here a lot. Just not as much lately.

No one has been able to find a way around it. It's supposed to a safety/security feature and there's a few other auto manufacturers that also do it. :ballchain:

Buddy just got 24 Tacoma, first thing I did was show how to remote start….. then I proceeded to tell him see that’s how you start it. I grabbed the door handle and said this is when it really sucks open the door. His truck did not shut off, so there must be a software update, not wanting to give us!

Go aftermarket, it will not shut off if door is open. They figured it out already, you will have to disable the oem remote starter from the programming menu when setting up your new starter unit..
I have push to start and it stays running.. i am running a compustar unit that i installed myself.. viper/python will also work. Really most aftermarket will work, but you may need a good installer to do it for you since it will require extra part and programming if you are not comfortable doing it yourself..
On my 21 platinum, it required a relay and a diode. Some factory wire WILL be cut and spliced.. the factory interior body module box will need to be dropped to get access to main large harness behind it to cut and splice in wire and diode..that was the hardest part for me.. but it can be done..
Go here, put in your vehicle, select your module, download the install guide, read through and see if it make sense to you.. you will need the compustar dc3 starter module, idatalink tl7 t-harness, standard relay, 1amp diode, zip ties, wire stripper, solder and iron, tesa tape..
