Remote start failed with open tailgate

Has anyone else experienced a failed remote start because your tailgate was open?

 

It’s normal. Even if your doors were unlock it won’t allow you.

message will say truck in use.

I try to not complain on here but for heavens sake, it’s a truck.

 

They don’t want your truck idling unattended unlocked. Someone will steal it in a heartbeat. So they kill it if you open the door/gate OR they don’t let you use remote start if it’s open/unlocked.
Would be nice if they offered a way to bypass at least the gate being open.

 

It won’t even start with a window down. I had my rear window ever so slightly cracked open and it refused to remote start due to the rear window being open…
