Hi guys! I'm new to this forum. Just picked up a 2020 SR5 recently and I've been searching through various mods on this forum checking to see what I can and can't do to my new Tundra. I'm wondering first of all if anyone could tell me if they've installed a Remote Start system of some sort on their Key Ignition System engine. I ran across this 12volt product online, but I'd love to get feedback (installation/usage) from anyone else that may have experience with this product.

I'm totally open to using another product as well. Ideally, I would love to go OEM, but from what I was reading, that's not really an option unless I have push-to-start (could someone confirm this?)

    Thank you all in advance!

I’ve had the 12 volt solutions model on my 2020 crewmax for about 3 months now with no issues except the toms warning, but it goes always after you put the ruck into drive and I can live with that. Easy to install as well, took about 30-45 minutes.

I just installed the 12voltsolutios Thursday, (2020 SR5). I had a few questions before I started and emailed them and they responded quickly and were super helpful. Took about 45 minutes and started right up on the first try! Couldn’t have been easier. From everything I read when researching most people would rather not have the factory remote start because of the way it kills the truck when the door is opened. The 12Voltsolutions kit uses my factory fob so that was a big plus for me also. There are quite a few threads discussing remote starts on the forum, looks like the majority here are using 12Voltsolutions, or Tech12volts.

That’s not an issue, that’s how it’s supposed to work.

From what I understand any system that taps the TPMS will get the warning. But mine goes off as soon as I put the key in and press the brake pedal.

The issue is on all trucks with the push start button ... the truck will cut off as soon as you open the door... if im not mistaken ....

    https://www.12volt.solutions/products/2020-toyota-tundra-plug-play-remote-start-kit-push-button-start

If you all have a key to start the truck ... you will no issue ... the link above is only for push button start and will cut off the truck when door is opened. Tires sensor comes due to remote start plugs is not energizing the circuit till you actually stick the key in but like everyone says ... it goes away .. ... Def a positive thing for me on my 2019 PRO but wish i have the same option that 2020 has ... but other than that its a great product i love mine... just hate locking it 3x since i also installed a pop a lock on the tailgate...

nope. Toyota seems to be the only ones. And it shuts off if you unlock it.

I installed 12v solutions kit on my 2015 in about 30 minutes and couldn't be happier with it.

all Toyota factory remote start does it regardless of push start or not. It’s the worst.

Did you get the kit that uses the oem remote, extended remotes or app? I want to get the app, thanks

I got the standard factory key fob setup. The app sounds cool but I just couldn’t justify spending that much money on it.

@1970CST/10 Did you have to cut/splice the TPMS wire? If so, how did you do it? I have a 2020 SR5 as well and bought the remote start and the TPMS harness that is supposed to be a plug and play thing, but apparently on the 2020's you still have to cut/spice the wire.

I installed the 12 Volt Solutions kit with App module just in time for winter. My favorite and most practical mod so far!

Yes I did have to splice. And to be honest I don’t remember now exactly what I had to do. My kit didn’t come with the install instructions pertaining to my specific year model that’s why I had to call them before I installed. Just call or shoot them an email and I’m sure they will get you your answer right away.

Well... not exactly. The purpose of this is so you don't start the truck from inside the house , forget your keys on the counter and drive off. Really sucks as my buddy did that in his new Z71. Shut it off and your screwed.

yeah didn’t even know that was possible. Every car I’ve owned with remote start shuts off when you push the brake without the key.
