just a heads up that the oem remote start no longer shuts off when you open the door. if you press the start button button the engine will stay running and you can put it into gear (plus you need the fob)

if you try to put it into gear before hitting the start button the truck will shut off.

odds of this carrying over to the tundra in a software patch or newer MY tundra's ???

ya not slicing in some China junk in order to avoid pushing a button again, good point

hopefully Toyota just does away with this bs at some point , I think with the new taco fixing it there is hope in the future for the oem fix

Quite possible they (Toyota) could push some type of update, or make it available to dealers, to change this setting. Question is more why would they do it? Outside of helping calm the negative feedback, Toyota really doesn’t have much incentive to make this change. There’s no profit for them and it’s more of a QoL change rather than something like a safety issue. I would love to be surprised though.

I doubt that Toyota will push out any kind of update......why would they? They'll wait for another year or 2 to program these features into a Tundra, so if you want them bad enough, you'll buy it. I would bet most of these things we all would like to see i.e. digital key, climate control, engine shut off, etc. would be an OTA update if Toyota wanted to push it out but they won't, They gain no benefit ($$$$) for doing so and the almighty $$$$ drives Toyota.

That's exactly how the aftermarket systems have worked since about... say... 1990. I guess Toyota is finally catching up!

After my Toyota connect free trail runs out I’m installing a fortin evo-one LTE. It comes with 1 year free trail for the app and then it’s like 129 for 3 years, plus it has take over.

@eddiefromcali a couple of questions: first, do you have the Tundra HV and secondly, did you install yourself? If you installed yourself roughly how long did your install take, and did you have any surprises?

Did install myself...about 2 or 3 hrs dicking around
One surprise...didnt have to send the module out...they included programming instructions.
    It's very easy

Would be nice, Probably never happen. Like patches for the fuel gauge, start/stop problem in Park, remote control of heating/cooling devices, non throttle response after a stop, key fob issues …….. And I’m an Optimist

Buddy , did I understand you correctly? After you remotely start the engine, your truck continues to run for a long time.? Because from the factory it is programmed to stall after 10 minutes. I am looking for such a thing that will make the truck run until I leave the house, sometimes 30-40 minutes)
