I'm looking to mount a magnet behind the panel left of the stereo (houses an AC vent and the 4x4 selector). Any instructions on how to pull this out? Or if anyone knows what it's called maybe I can improve my google-fu in finding the answer...

Sorry, I thought there was access to the back of the side panels once you removed the radio. Guess I was wrong.

You might be able to reach around to the drivers side by removing these.
