Either my Google fu is weak or I couldn’t find it. Does the weather strip along the outside come off just like the tacos? I’m wanting to remove mine, clean them up and paint them.

I taped and plastic’d off mine in place and sprayed them with bedliner topped off with an enamel spray after proper prepping. Seems like a lot of work to pull them off which in this case wasn’t necessary (in my case).

Are you talking about the belt gasket along the bottom of the window? If so, they just pop out. Takes a little bit of force, but I just replaced mine in my 07.

What did you use to remove/prep it? I was going to pull them today but it’s was pretty chilly today, it’s been parked outside all night and I’ve learned my lesson with cold plastic. Maybe doing them on the truck might be better.

Mine were black to begin with. They had developed some surface cracking in the finish but did not reach the peeling stage. I taped off and plastic’d off for over spray. Lightly sanded the cracking coating on the metal (removed the loose but scuffed the holding finish) and wiped it down with alcohol. Then sprayed it with liner and topped it with black matte enamel. Its been holding up well for a year now. Looks as good as new.
