Repair driver seat back springs (2006)?

    Hi all,
Recently got a 2006 tundra SR5 in good shape, but with 200,000 miles, the driver's seat springs are poking out the back (cloth bucket).

I tried looking online for how to repair, and even stopped by an auto upholstery shop and the consensus seems to be to replace the seat (or seat back if possible).

Does anyone have any ideas where to find parts?

I tried local junk yards, eBay ($500+), and online junk yard searches.

My other idea is: could I take the seat back parts needed from a junk yard passenger seat? I know the arm rest is on the wrong side, but I would doubt the springs are different, right?

Thanks all! Loving this old truck so far!

Post a picture please. I'm not sure what you're referring to.

Are you sure the spring needs replacing? Or did the spring fall off a retention bracket/shelf inside the seat body itself? I ask because if a spring is "poking out the back" of a fabric seat, it sounds like something's wrong that replacing the spring won't help with.

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't think I explained it well, so here are a couple photos…

Damn! Looks like someone cut them. I’ve seen seats taken apart from 50 year old cars being able to be rebuilt. And usually it just needs foam and burlap again to contain everything along with hog rings etc. i’m guessing the upholstery shop cannot source spring material. You may need to find donor seats if that’s the case.

although I would think somebody creative could make something work from another type of seat spring

Gotcha, I'll just keep an eye out for local junkyard find. Appreciate the insight!

Have you thought about just trying to maneuver the springs back in place and wiring them back together? Maybe some hog rings just to keep it from poking through the seat. Is the seat still comfortable?

The seat is completely usable; I found an old seat pad I had stored away (from when I had a 2004 Toyota with a similar problem, coincidentally). I'll take a look and see if I could get the pieces to hold…
