Replace plastic bed rails

Hello everyone,
Im new to the forum. I have always had some kind of Toyota pickup, new or used. The last tundra I bought new (2013) I got a factory spray on bed liner, that has been great. But the spray liner doesn’t go on the bed rails and if you take off the plastic rail you can see why. There’s valleys and indentation the plastic sets in. I don’t mind the way it looks I hate that dirt gets under there and it’s hard to get it clean. Maybe all the newer tundras have this. My 02 didn’t. So my question is has anyone come up with some thing different to put on there or can you spray bed liner on it and have look clean.

I might have some ideas , but I don't know what the underside of the plastic on the bed rails look like. Do you have pics?

Thanks. Hopefully these pictures help with your ideas. Maybe there’s nothing that can be done, just shy of welding a plug or something. It sucks with plastic though. This isn’t my pickup, I work out of town and I found these online

 

I need to replace both of the plastic rail covers that would fit into those holes. Trying to find part # - anyone know what it is (might be different for driver/passenger side?)? Thanks in advance.

Okay so lots of large holes.
If you wanted to run with out the plastics: I would recommend cutting slightly larger than holes plugs using a magnet an fishing them to underside and using Body panel seal epoxy to sick em an then let them cure an fill the ever so small dent with the epoxy an smooth it over so you use the bed liner on the rails.

if you wanted to keep the plastics: you could remove them clean very well and use a clear silicone an make a small narrow bead a couple of mm's up on the inside along the edges of the plastics. Doing so would keep dirt and derbies out. Also spacing those couple mm will keep the silicone from being visible. The only down side is if you ever want to take it off for any reason it will a pain.

 

I know a company makes metal ones for the Tacoma. Might have luck looking into that. Or you could fab something out of angle iron

 

I did this with my 2005 Tundra and it was a real pain in the *ss!! Would never do it again. Any little dent or imperfection projects up through the bed liner.

 

check JC whitney for bed cap material on a roll. Many years ago I used it quite a bit under camper shells to protect the bed. Self adhesive, cut to fit, about 5" wide. Rolls over the side, has 90 deg lip inside. Thick and durable.
