Lower tailgate. Remove two 30 m hex bolts inside edge of tail gate.
Pull taillight straight away from the box, recognize the two pins that hold the lens in place. Pull straight, don’t twist!

I used a really fine edge trim tool. Pry the spring clip off. Pull the shock off the ball. The top one didn’t even extend mine was so worn out. Pry lower spring clip off and pull bottom off.

When you put the new one on clip the lower ball on first. You’ll notice the shock is too long. Don’t try to compress, you won’t be able to.
Close the tailgate and the upper ball clip will push on easily no effort. lower tailgate and bolt taillight back on. That’s it. 10 min and you’re done.
