Replacing hoses

    I've seen in the manual and researching the forums that "replacing hoses" is part of preventative maintenance. But can't seem to find which specific hoses they're referring too. What does "replacing hoses" look like? Do you just inspect them to see which need replacing and replace accordingly, or you go all in and just do them all every 100k or so? Or do specific hoses need replacing at specific miles?

    I think what this is referring to would be any of the rubber hoses in the engine bay. Upper and lower radiator, transmission cooler, power steering, etc. I feel that if they're inspected on a somewhat regular basis for cracking, bulging, and leaks, that should be sufficient. Obviously if there's a problem, replacement is warranted. I don't think there's a specific mileage to replace hoses. But, let's face it, 18 year old rubber is living on borrowed time in most cases. Just keep a close eye on things and replace as necessary.

    Vacuum hoses will probably go faster than radiator hoses. Just replaced some 30 year old vacuum hoses, while my radiator hoses still look decent for their age. Of course, I have a box of tools and brand new spares in the trunk.

    And actuator hoses, that's pretty critical if you're 4WD.

    This week had to do the power steering hoses going to/from the reservoir as there was massive gunk buildup on the metal hoses below them. Started looking around and noticed one of the vacuum hoses had slowly started to creep off from the bulging/cracking so got 2 of those replaced as well.
