The old regulator butchered the mounting holes somehow, especially this one. 20240203_174347.jpg 20240203_115502.jpg

Nut must've come loose and had that bastard floating around in the hole? Or it was something else?

It had sounded off and I felt a little movement for awhile, then one day the window went down and would rise diagonal towards windshield. Of course it is like the coldest day of the year, i am at work, managed to get it up; but nearly lost me fingers.

Yeah, that seems to be what happened, still seems pretty extreme.

Here is the new one mounted. Added a washer and a slightly longer bolt. Worked perfect. Lubed the run channels20240203_150544.jpg

I remember when I thought my driver tweeter was dead. Only to find the last person in my driver door forgot to hook it up. Looking at your wiring reminded me of that.

I was gonna say, "Hell, you shoulda updated the speakers while in there!" but having a functional window is a wee bit more important.

Funny enough my tweeter wasn't plugged in too! lol. What is with people?
Maybe new speakers some day, had a day of sun here so had to get that regulator done , I can use the drive-thrus again! no more opening door, of shame, for my coffee.

Well, either way, good work and thanks for posting pics on this. It's threads like this that inspire others coming here to get out there and do their own damn work. Kudos. :101010:

    Door looks nice!

My regulator is doing something similar. Window goes down, occasionally comes back up at an angle pointed towards the windshield. Took the door apart, found the screw holding the window in came loose, applied loctite and reassembled. Several months later, same thing happened. I think it's time to swap the regulator now.

Thanks.... Yeah, it might have warped the regulator (mine was mangled, 3 bolts were off) when your bolts were loose. Might as well, replace it, it is pain to keep popping of the panel.

I used a Dorman replacement for mine, works like a dream ever since... This should fit your tundra (Driver side) https://www.dormanproducts.com/p-45...ion=Front%20Left&bodytype=Crew%20Cab%20Pickup

I got the Aisin (OEM) part for my AC on rockauto with a motor and all for a pretty reasonable price.
Think the costs should be pretty similar. They may be made in the same factory, who knows.

If you get one with a motor make sure the wires are the same polarity before you bolt things back together.

I saw that brand, Aisin, it was cheaper than Dorman, maybe like $15-20 difference. , at least up here in canada anyway. I have never purchased an Aisin product before.

Aisin is OEM Toyota. Denso and Aisin both. Always buy those brands where you can, but only if the seller controls their inventory (i.e. don't buy it on fleaBay or scAmazon)

Yeah, i have never bought Aisin (I know they make some OEM parts for Toyota, and OEM equivalents?) but, I liked the Dorman regulator better, so went with that.
