Looking to get this bed cover on my 23 Platinum.

Any feedback on this cover? Is the only difference between PRO MX and PRO XR the outer option to add rails?

I thought there was someone in the forums that worked for them? Please tag them if this is true

    Thanks!

I don't work for Realtruck, but we sell enough of these that I might as well! I can confirm that the difference between the ProMX and ProXR is just the T-slot rails. Everything else is the same. I personally run the ProXR on my truck and plan to do it again on the next one.

We've got most of those covers on the shelf over here at Hotshot Offroad as well so please let me know if we can help!

I was ready to pull the trigger on the Retrax Pro XR myself. Amazon prime day came along and I found the knock off (so I believe) made by Syneticusa. Upon looking at the pictures of them both there was no considerable difference that I could see. There were some slight differences but I had to scrutinize the two pictures to notice anything. About the only difference I could see was the Retrax uses one lock, the Syneticusa uses two.
The Retrax Pro XR manual cover with the T-rails is $2,200, the Syneticusa with the same setup was $850 on Prime Day with free shipping. It's now listed at $950 with free shipping.
I took the chance and bought the Syneticusa. Surprisingly it showed up earlier than expected with some minor shipping damage to one of the endcaps on the t-rails and a slight scratch on one of the t-tails. I wrote the seller through Amazon and got an immediate response. They offered to either send me new parts or provide me with $150 refund. I opted for the refund and in about 3 hours I saw the credit pop up on my Amazon account. Granted it was not a credit to my credit card but getting it back as an Amazon credit was just fine with me. Overall the Syneticusa cost me $700, in case your bad at math that's a savings of $1,500 over the Retrax.
Overall I'm very satisfied with the cover. Took my son on a 3 week camping trip a few weeks ago and stayed at a different campsite every night. We opened and closed that cover at least 5-10 times a day without a problem. The cover uses 4 pretty large drain tubes, one on each corner. In order to make them work properly you'll have to drill the bed, something I wasn't interested in doing just yet. I also bought a bedrug so I didn't notice the water at all, mainly because the bed was full of storage tubs that held the camping gear.

But yes, the side rails are the only difference between the MX and XR. You can even buy the other set if you decide you want to switch for whatever you originally purchased.

I have the Pro XR. I know it is not cheap, but would buy another if it got damaged. Purchased thru Real Truck. The first and second delivery were both damaged, but one phone call got another one shipped and they also paid for the return shipping thru FedEx. Third one had no damage.

If I had to do it all over again, I would not have bought the XR Pro. I’ve had warranty parts swapped on the canister and end cap. Too many moving pieces and things that can go wrong. Luckily, real truck has been good about sending replacement parts

That sucks. I've had nothing but good luck with mine. I did crack a plastic piece on the canister (below the cover) but that was me cramming too much into the bed and I had a ratchet strap pulling things tighter towards the cab. But mine lives outside in the Texas sun and sees all the weather and I've had no complaints. Gotten tons of dirt and crap in the rails and after a few uses they are back to rolling smooth.

Glad you have gotten replacement parts but sucks to hear you had issues.

Installed the XR Pro on my 23 TRD Pro last night. I assume the only option for the drain tubes is to drill bigger holes in the bed? Any recommendations for the drill bit size so I don’t have to do it by trial and error?

For those that have the Retrax pro, on the passenger rail where the locking latch clamps on the rail, is there a hole for the locking latch to go into? Mine has a small hole but it almost looks like the screw dug into it over time and eventually made its own hole. I don’t remember if that was there or not…but now the screw gets stuck when unlocking and I have to manually pop it out if I wanted to open it up. If someone can confirm.

Same. I have the MR version, and I'm really happy with it. The canister is reported to be smaller than the retrax as well, so takes up less bed space. For half the price I had to pull the trigger. It keeps water out much better that anticipated, although I do have the 4 drain tubes installed.

I have the RetraxOne XR, which as T-slot rails, and is the plastic not aluminum. I live in AZ and thought the aluminum ones would get too hot. I'm running a bed radk (Kuat Ibex) that mounts to the t-slots.

I too and running retrax but the XR Pro…also with the Kuat Ibex!

on a side note, not sure how the Amazon brands warranty works but I’ve had the Retrax for a while and have broken the canister, locking mechanism and more recently my passenger side rail. Real Truck (I think they now own Retrax) has been amazing with warranty claims. No questions asked, they have been sending me replacement parts. That alone makes Retrax worth it!

Agreed- I had an issue. Chatted them on a Saturday, got an email on Sunday w/ directions. Solved my issue. I had a 1/2" pvc cap somehow fall into the canister and get stuck.

I absolutely enjoy my XR pro.

The only down side is leaving outside in snow and freezing open/closed. This normally isn't an issue for this guy until my truck got booted out of the garage.
