I have Pro XR here in Texas, came from having a trifold Bakflip. Overall I do really like the Retrax but it gets flipping hot since its aluminum and painted black. Definitely keep some work gloves or a small towel in the cab for opening and closing it when its hot. The Bakflip got hot but it had plastic or rubber on the edges so where you were grabbing wasn't terribly hot. I've only had mine a couple months but Retrax is reputable and it should last a good long while.

If you are going to buy one, hit up @memario1214 to see how his pricing compares. He sells these and is awesome to work with.

Thanks! Thats the kinda info I was looking for. I also had the backflip on my Tacoma and it was ok but there was stuff I didn’t like about it, so that’s why I was thinking of going Retrax.

Awesome, I thought that might cover some of your concerns. I went Retrax XR so I could put some bars on it to haul kayaks. You do lose some bed space due to the canister but that shouldn't be a surprise. I really haven't had issues with it. The unlocking and locking the retractable cover adds some steps compared to the Bakflip that you just flipped up and let slam shut but again that is a small issue to have the Retrax. I love being able to have the cover fully retracted and being able to see out the back window!!!

I’ve got the Retrax MX which is the composite manual version. No complaints with fit, form, or function even with the Texas heat.

Lol god i know the window thing bugged me. Plus mine kept falling apart, the arms to hold it up against the window kept falling out. The twist knob to hold the arms in place kept unscrewing and falling out, I hated that thing lol. But it was solid and kept the weather out pretty good. But there is a $125 rebate right now the bakflip plus its only $912 on Amazon right now so the price is tempting me. Only downside I am seeing with the Retrax really is the canister size other than that I love it.

Hit up @memario1214 before you buy any cover. He can probably get you a better price and is an awesome person to work with. I've been learning he is like the best go to for anything not OEM.

I see you have a crewmax.
That Retrax can takes up a good amount of space, even in my old 6 ft 2005 DC bed.

Not as easy to remove as a BAKflip, but the Retrax can be removed if you need the entire bed.
Just take the clamps off and it lifts out.

In my 2014 DC with a 6' bed, I have an Undercover Flex.
    Not waterproof, but watertight.
The Retrax was far from waterproof as well.
With the Bedrug it is like having a 6' trunk.

Best when used with the OEM bed rail system..

That Retrax Pro XR with the racks would be the way to go.
Otherwise, I'd look to Diamondback covers...
    Good luck..........
