    Hey everyone,

Just picked up a 2024 Tundra this weekend and looking at bed covers.
Narrowed it down to the RetraxONE XR vs the Retrax Pro XR. Reviews for both look great.

Which one is recommended for cold climates?

Also, if you know if any deals, help a man out - TIA!

The question is, do you need the t-slot on top for a rack or cross bar? If no, go with the Retrax One. If yes, go with the Retrax Pro. Then its just aluminum verse composite but the retractable portion is identical between the One and the Pro.

@memario1214 is a great vendor who carries both and can probably get you one of the best prices to your doorstep.

Ahh, so maybe I was mistaken. I thought the One and Pro (XR series) both came with the t-slot option, and the difference was between the aluminum vs plastic.

I would like the ability to have the t-slot for racks.

    You sir are correct, sorry...
XR has the T-slots and the One is composite while Pro is aluminum.

I have the Pro XR and love it. It did fine in Texas winter. It did freeze up and wasn't retractable when covered in ice but that didn't surprise me.

Colton (memario) can help you decide which one fits your needs better. He is a wealth of knowledge

Just got my Retrax Pro XR, prior vehicle had a BakFlip, and I can easily state I like this WAYYY better. Even had a customer support problem, and I am VERY pleased with the level of support they give their product.

I went w/ the Retrax ProMX - huge fan of theirs and I love the product. I'm in a '24 Capstone.

I vote Retrax Pro XR. I beat the ever loving p*** out of mine and it works like a champ. This is the second vehicle I put it on and will continue to go with this as future needs change.

    1) metal top that can carry weight. I have loaded mine down and walked on it as necessary.
    2) Tslot 0- so many uses. Eventually I will buy the rhino rack rails for the bed to swap between them and the overland rack based on what I am doing. For now, the rack does most of the heavy lifting.
    3) Looks great, durable and no electronics.

Only con, and it is annoying AF if you do truck stuff... It takes some tie down points away and reducing overall bed volume capacity. I notice it mostly when I am moving larger things like the washer and dryer. But I bought a trailer and am done moving, so its back to not caring again. The strap tie downs annoy me more than anything else about it, but I always make it work.

I would buy it again, hell i did once already.

    Good luck and nice rig!

I do not recommend this, but it can be done...

DM @SantanaRealtruck - he should be able to hook you up with a forum discount. Also answered all my questions.

I went with the RealtraxOne with the T-Slots. Arrived in like two days and wasn't bad to set up. I don't get real winter here, but we've had plenty of rain and it has been solid.

I have the RetraxOne XR, I think it’s around 20-30lbs lighter than the RetraxPro. I have my truck loaded, so every pound counts. Quality is great and it’s easy to install.

While, we are on the topic of retract pro XR, I would like to know , has anybody ceramic coating the aluminum slat of the pro XR. I am planning to get ceramic coating for the entire truck. There is no additional cost to put on the pro XR aluminum slats.

Any functional issue or concern? Also, would that void the warranty?
    Thanks

    Nothing yet, brand new.
I went with the OneXR and couldn’t be happier. I wasn’t planning on loading or standing on the cover, so that + price is why I chose the OneXR over the ProXR. Every time I see a roll-n-lock cover or trifold, I am glad I spent the extra money, because the quality is noticeable - don’t attack me roll-n-lock owners ;-). Only difference I noticed during research between the One/Pro was composite/aluminum material and a more substantial warranty with the Pro. Pro had a lifetime warranty and the One had a 1yr warranty. Don’t quote me on warranty, might be different now.

Ordered from real truck and arrived in 2 days in great condition. I started a live chat with them (prior to placing the order) and mentioned seeing a forum discount on this forum. They hooked me up with a discount and it saved me a couple hundred bucks. Without reference back to the receipt, my order total was approximately mid $1300’s.

Installed it with my dad in the driveway in no time after watching several DIY installations on YouTube. Setup went great and was finished in no time. You really only need help lifting and positioning it on the truck bed. I wasn’t able to dial in the width measurements exactly how they instructed and the retractable cover would get hung up halfway opening or closing and on the tailgate when using the fob to drop the tailgate. It wasn’t bad and still very functional. Just a measurement error on my end that I couldn’t get dialed in precisely. Got tired of it a few days later and stopped by my local H&H and they got the 3 width measurements dialed in within 10 minutes. They only charged me a 1/4 hour labor - worth every bit of $40 & cheaper than the full installation that they offer. It glides smoothly front to back now. After drilling out the drain holes, I’d recommend using some rust-oleum metal spray paint (or comparable paint) to protect the newly exposed metal after drilling.

Haven’t pulled the trigger on a rack or crossbar setup yet, but have the GoRhinio XRS crossbars on my wishlist. I’ve got a baby due in May so truck mods/accessories aren’t priority anymore.

Love the lunar rock, I was holding out for one, but couldn’t pass the deal I got on my SR5 mag gray. Whichever Retrax you choose, I’m sure you’ll be pleased with it. I saw where Retrax released a new model (EQ) that is power operated by an interior mounted key pad, OEM key fob, or through their app on your phone…$3,100

I have a Retrax Pro with T slots I’m planning on selling. One year old, great condition. I’m in the upper Northeast if anyone is interested. Too heavy and bulky to ship.

I had the Retrax Pro on my 2022 and I am making the dealership transfer it over onto my 2024.
