Has anyone successfully turned off the Reverse crash detection auto brake? I used the method of pressing the brake pedal and pushing the parking brake button but that seems to only turn off the automatic e brake after putting the truck in park.

I guess Toyota didn’t consider people using the truck for work off road. Something as simple as a small dirt pile will cause the truck to stop dead with a crazy sound of the auto brake. On rural roads the lane centering feature kept trying to steer me into oncoming traffic but i was able to figure out how to turn that off.

Something similar happen to me on a Mini. Had it in reverse with the door open. Kept hitting the brakes when trying to reverse with the door open to look back. It was one of those moments when you don't feel like getting all the way in the vehicle, closing the door, just to back up 1 foot. The newer Dodges has the open door feature also. Annoying if you ask me. Didn't even try to figure out how to turn it off.

same issue. When I’m trying to take down trees i need to reverse with the door open or even reversing into the garage. For me this is a need to turn off. Worst case I’m going to call the dealer to see if they know how and share the knowledge but they typically have a trick to turn the systems off.

Have you tried turning off the pre-collision system (PCS)?

Have you already tried pressing the button to turn it off? Looks like a traffic cone to the left of the steering wheel?

It's good to know the reverse auto brake works well, just not offroading.

I’ll press it and give it a try, i don’t mind the beeping / warnings but I’m looking for a permanent solution to the auto brake feature. I prefer how it works in my BMW, the sensor show how close you are to something but doesn’t automatically brake.

If you turn it off it stays off on subsequent starts, so it’s “permanent” in that sense.
