I just purchased a 2017 tundra it has the basic stock wheels and tires (18") I would like to install 20" rims and tires- is there any reason not to do this?

    Welcome from NY.
Some models come stock with 20" wheels.

20s ride slightly rougher because there is less sidewall to flex. And tires cost slightly more

    Less sidewall if off-roading.

The trick is just run huge tires and 20s your golden.. 18s on 35s = 20 on 37 same sidewall :D

True, but if the OP has stock tires on it currently he probably doesn't have the room for 35's or 37's.

Can I ask why you want 20's? Looks only? Driving?

My Tundra came with 20" wheels and I just went down to 18" wheels. I have more tire options at 18", more sidewall cushioning, cheaper tires, etc. The problem with 20" wheels it that unless you go with at least a 35" tire, the sidewalls look like rubber-bands. However, when you go to a 35" tire (or higher), you add A LOT more weight (especially if you run a 10 ply tire), more money for tires, you need to lift your truck some and to do it right isn't cheap, and your gas mileage will drop like it has been hit by Mike Tyson.

    18" wheels with a 33" tire (stock is a 32" tire on both 18 and 20" wheels).

    Wheels and suspension:
    - Method NV 18" wheels (+25 offset)
    - Nitto Ridge Grapplers 275/70/18 tires
    - Bilstein 5100's shocks (adjusted to max height - about 2.2" of front lift). The rear suspension is untouched

Body (my goal was to get rid of the chrome):
    - TRD Pro grille
    - Color matched hood bulge
    - Color matched bumper end covers on the front (rear came painted from the factory)
    - 2019 TRD Pro LED Tundra Headlights (with conversion harness as mine is a 2017 and the last year before LEDs)
    - Black badges to replace the chrome
    - Color matched mirrors and door handles
    - Tyger Star Armor steps

Everything Ruiner said. Plus really nice truck, Ruiner! Method wheels look great! My setup is quite similar with the addition of 1.5 inch shackles on the back.

Thank you, sir! As is yours! One thing I really like about Toyota is the interesting colors they paint these trucks in.

I know, that was my first choice of color, couldn’t find one, then i saw the Cement only came in the Pro that year, couldn’t afford it, then the Quicksand was in SR5 (Got it) and then the voodoo blue , ohh man, and now the army green. You are right they do make interesting colors.
