Anyone have the Ring alarm system? We have quite a few of the cameras and we are thinking about getting rid of ADT.

I have nothing else to offer. Google owns the rest of my life, so I have a chosen to stay the course with Nest.

Ring here (still running the 1st gen hardware). Got it as a gift with 4 or 6 window sensors and added cameras (easy to add into the setup) to cover inside and out of ranch house. The 1yr professional monitoring for $120 got it for me, think other companies are now offering the same.

We have 6 ring cameras & added the alarm a year ago, the alarm & monitoring service are very good & worth the 200 a year to store all our camera data & have Pro monitoring.

Ring hardware support is hit or miss but they do replace defective cameras for as long as the 100 a year plan is on (just replaced a floodlight cam last week)

Just dont go with an alarm company. Father in law had to jump through an insane amount of hoops before finally being able to cancel...

He already has ADT. We have Vivint. I tell everyone to steer clear of them but only because their customer svc is trash.

    Too many, but not enough....
What's wrong with adt? I pay 35 bucks a month and supplement with Geeni system which has cheap equipment and the app is great.

Which company? Took me 10 minutes to cancel the system on one of my properties through adt. No hassles at all.

Extends the warranty of hardware components (including theft and damage I believe...knock on wood havent had to use that)...Police, Fire, Carbon minoxide (if you get smoke alarm that has carbon minoxide that integrates directly or buy separate sensor that listens out for minoxide alarm).

With the app, can cancel false alarms for PD and fire, minoxide alarms are immediate dispatch.

The ability to auto call emergency svcs was what swung us towards this high dollar crap we have now.

no idea what company it was. Wasn't a big name like adt or bell (at least in our area), was a smaller one....probably just a reseller. Ended up having to write them through BBB so they are required to respond.

The Ring doorbell blows. Before I bought it I inquired about the operating temperature because it was lower than our Arizona medium high heat and I was told not to worry it “should” work with no problems. It does work until it gets hot then it takes a very long break with no response until it cools off. Then even though it is working (using that word loosely) I can walk up to it and break dance before it recognizes movement. However it is very good to let you know it recognized a person at the front door and when you look it is just the camera switching from night vision to normal

I have blazing fast WiFi and when I get a notice that someone is at my front door by the time the cameras connect we could be dead

That is the only Ring experience I have. I do have 6 Nest cameras and they are much better in the heat. The camera on the back porch works flawlessly since installed 3 years ago and it was 115 yesterday

ADT is $60 per month and it's full of false alarms. I keep getting calls that my alarm is going off when I'm in the house. We haven't even set the thing in a long time.

Well, there's your problem right there. The EULA for the Ring system clearly states they only support the following:

    - lambada
    - salsa
    - cha cha
    - Harlem shake
    - Dougie

I have a Ring spotlight cam and it’s been defeated in the past via Wi-Fi jamming so I’d be cautious about using anything that’s all Wi-Fi. Should be hard wired POE IMO with the capability of accessing footage remotely.

All this is good info, I don't have cameras in my house yet, but have considered multuple forward facing ones, due to that new laser technique to blind cameras.

I live in the middle of nowhere (Ozarks) and have had Ring for about 5 years now. I started w/them when they offered me a free Ring floodlight cam in exchange for testing the crap out of it, which I did. My wife didn't want a system at first.

UNTIL some tweekers rolled up on our house when I wasn't home. All was well, thankfully, but she said "You can buy whatever system you want." LOL

I ended up getting the base unit and sensors for all the doors, and tied it in with the floodlight cam. Frankly, the floodlight cam alone has been worth the money. Anytime I've ever had any issues (which has been maybe 2x in 6 years) they've either helped us out, or have replaced the hardware. We pay for the monitoring and it's been worth it, IMHO.
