Looking to expand the lights on my truck for camping, off road (day and night). Looking at getting a roof rack and adding lights pointing to the sides for additional lighting at a later date. So they are higher and cover a large area.

In the meantime, thinking of getting KC Hilite's Cyclone V2 rock lights to illuminate the area under the truck and in the wheel well in case I need to change a tire in the dark.

Are rock lights worth it? Or save the money for the roof rack and the lights for that set up? Anyone regret installing rock lights?

    Thanks!

You don't need rock lights for what you are doing. Save the money - that other stuff is way more valuable.

Rock lights aren’t all that helpful for what you want and wiring them is a complete pain in the ass

Save your money. Rechargeable led lantern & headlamp for $50 will meet your “rock light” needs.

I’d go with a small aaa type edc flashlight with a hat clip personally because I hate headlamps. Personal preference and I already have the flashlight in my pocket

They are worth every single penny. I purchased the same lights from Colton @memario1214 through HotShot Off-road.

Glad I asked this question. I think lighting is important camping or going off road whether during the day or night. But I do carry flashlights, a Kobalt battery shop light, part of my every day carry is a flashlight,

I was thinking rock lights because of that always be prepared mentality. Plus I've been on some back roads that needed may have needed alot of light at night because of that drop on one side. LOL. But i was on it during the day....

Rock lights are for a niche group. Are they useful for everyone?, sure, the more light the better. But if you don't know if you need them, you probably don't. That jeep in the picture should have saved his money for sliders first. And you have more important needs it seems. Scene lights might be better for you, rack and all.

Thank you and everyone else for talking me out of getting the rock lights. I think you're right about the niche group. Saved me money I could use for the roof rack and the lights for that set up

So I will pitch this another way. This lights are not for looking cool or for you (well, maybe if you are doing trail repairs at night). These are for your spotter when out late so you don’t run into things that jump out at you at night.

I can’t count the amount of damage I’ve done to my crawlers body panels at night…and I don’t even care. Cheap insurance. A couple buddies are running them and they are great. We mount them so they can’t be easily seen, pointing forward/out to give plenty of light.
