Pretty cool comparison. I have been using Amsoil Full Synthetic after my 1st change. I get a 7500 mile change and also use Amsoil in my differential. I'm not on board with a 30k change. I think all of the full synthetics will do the job. I think it's personal preference.

Very interesting. I know Amsoil is a great product. Their Severe Gear gear oil is great. Just wish you could pick it up anywhere. I'd like to see a showdown with Redline since that's what I use.

Love Amsoil, great motor oil, but very expensive. Here's the good news for everyone: today's motor oils you can buy all the shelf, conventional, semi synthetic and full synthetic are all very, very good. Oil technology has come a long, long, long way over the last 20-30 years and it's not the same stuff your dad put in his truck back in the 1980s. It's simply better.

The great news is, any name brand synthetic oil you choose to use is going to be excellent oil. In fact, pretty much any name brand conventional oil is going to be excellent oil. There's very little chance that anyone on this message board will be able to abuse any name brand motor oil to such a degree that you are going to destroy your engine. You have to do something very silly, like have a oil leak that you ignore, and then run your car way past its oil change date, and not add any oil, that is run it dry, to burn your engine up. I mean, you really have to almost intentionally destroy your engine.

Anyhow, yes, Amsoil is excellent oil, but you can get excellent synthetic motor oil from oh, say, Castrol or Valvoline or Mobil One, or Pennzoil, etc., that will work great in your truck.

The most telling part was the cooked oil.

For me it was the cooked oil AFTER it was put in the freezer since those are the temps I'm dealing with. The "cooked" RP didn't even want to come out of the test tube.

I would liked to have seen a “bearing test” done with the cooked oil.

I run royal purple 0w-20 and what a difference. I change it every beginning of spring with a wix filter as well. I only drive it maybe 8000 miles a year.

What difference did you see. I used it in my Supercharged car and saw cooler oil temps. Thinking of trying RP in the Tundra, I only drive it 3000 miles a year.
