I drove up to Reno and my check engine light came on for misfire on the number 8 spark plug. I replaced the ignition coil and spark plug however my truck is still running rough and shaking while at a complete stop and when I go in reverse

No also when I'm in drive and I come to a complete stop, my truck starts to vibrate and feels like it wants to shut off

I'd check the rest of them. Did you use denso coil packs?

You didn't buy it on scAmazon or fleaBay or WallyWorld, did you?

Is your truck 2WD or 4WD?

Do you live in a place where rodents exist and you also park outside?

The issue you're seeing could be any number of things, vacuum leak, intake gasket leak, rodent chewing on something, bad ground, MAF needs to be cleaned, rodents got in your airbox to make a nest and a chunk of air filter got on the MAF, there's about a hundred more.

first thing I'd do is rotate the plug and coil from #8 cylinder to the #6 cylinder next door, and see if the code follows. If not, you know it has nothing to do with the coil or plug, it's something else not right.

Could be water in the gas. I had the same issue when it wasn't bad enough to cause a misfire CEL. A bottle of dry gas fixed that problem.

Are you certain you replaced the number 8 spark plug and coil?

I don't normally recommend autozone coils, and especially for these trucks but they usually work fine they just don't last.

I also don't recommend anything except OEM (i.e. Denso). Too many people have had issues with even from highly respected companies like MSD.

And that's a good point about OP getting the cylinders backwards. Didn't dawn on me they could be pulling the coil closest to the brake MC (#7) or any others versus #8, closest to the glovebox.
