    Hello:
I'm looking at a 2017 Tundra that's for sale at a local dealer. It is low mileage and immaculate inside and out, but I looked underneath and saw these rust lines that appear to follow the welds (two images attached).
What is your thought on this? Do I avoid this truck, or do they all look like this after 4 years?
    Thanks for your input.

Yup, just clean it up and spray it with something like fluid film before next winter.

Still fixable at that point. I personally turned down a local Tundra last spring that looked just about like that but I was searching for an immaculate rust-free one to get ahead on the woolwaxing (and this was back before covid bs when trucks werent overpriced and hard to find so I had that luxury..)
    Buy her!

That really is nothing. I'll buy it. Just spray with oil like fluid film and it will not get any worst.

Looks clean...a wire wheel and some rust oleum or pro15 and you can clean those up easily.

Here are few pics of the underside of my ‘14. Been in Iowa for about 3 years now and no rust. I use the AMsoil HD metal protectant. It’s messy so if you decide to use it, park in a parking lot somewhere...dont do it in your garage or driveway. I put it on the second year I was here and haven’t reapplied so this is after 2 winters.

It will attract dirt but as you can see it has kept the rust at bay.

If it's any consolation, you're not alone in missing Tundra deals. When I was looking for my Tundra last year I missed at least 3 trucks because I waited a day (or an hour) too long and they sold. Either that or I'd call a dealer after waiting a few days and the truck would go UP in price. I'd ask "why did it go up? Did you put new tires on it or something?" and they'd just say "we're getting a lot of calls."

Better to be careful and miss a truck or two than to buy the wrong truck. But as the guys said, when it looks right you have to snap it up.
