I am thinking that I might want to upgrade to a gen 3 limited with leather and nav and I was window shopping and found a 2015 with 12,000 miles on it, unfortunately it has a salvage title, however the airbags never deployed.

Any have any exp with salvage title tundras?

Way too much money for a salvage title.

Personally, I avoid salvage titles like the plague. Too many cases where you will have eternal problems with alignment, strange tire wear, etc.

I considered buying one years ago but it was a hassle to get insurance because of the title... it might have just been because the type of salvage but I was young and didn't know. Anyways, at that price Id avoid because of hidden gremlins and/or shortcuts used to get this ready for sale.

Nice truck BUT personally I stay away from salvage title. The damage had to be extensive to get that title or may be in a flood. It's also difficult to sell if you ever decide to get rid of it.

For a vehicle with “a story”, that is SEVERELY over-priced. At that number, you’re not far from a new SR5. Take your biz elsewhere. Just my .02....

I agree with Steve89gt plus the resale on a Salvage is really bad. My 2C

    Didn't read the link.

I will say all of my trucks in the last 20 years were/are salvage titled.

I put them back together myself. I've never bought a repaired salvage title truck. I have saved a huge amount of money doing this, but will admit it is not for everyone.

Most banks have a hard time giving you a loan for a salvage truck. I say most banks but not all. It does help if you have a heathy amount of money already being saved with that bank.

Insurance can be difficult as well. The insurance company has difficulty putting a value on a salvage titled car. As stated above, the value of a ST (salvage titled) car us generally considered a bit above half for most people. Yet you have to insure it for full value. You can't sell it for the price of a clear title, but you can wreck it and get full value. This is why IC's are leery of insuring ST vehicles with loans.

I'm making out very well because I buy my ST wrecks outright and fix them mostly myself. My IC will insure my vehicles because their is no loan on them. They know they are ST and know that can't make them give full replacement value of that vehicle.

The fact I've never made insurance claim in 25 years might help too.

I drive my Toyota trucks to way past the 200k mark. A ST Toyota with 200k sells for the same money as a clear titled Toyota.

Had the truck been presented to me like that i would had the frame checked for damage, if none I would have offered maybe $15,000 or do you think that is to high?

I learned a while back the difference between a salvage and rebuilt title as I was looking at a citadel that was very cheap. A rebuilt title can be a deal sometimes provided you don't plan to resale and just drive it into the ground.

thnx for the feed back guys, even though I do research things i still like to get other peoples opinions.

Opened up the link. 35k for a salve titled and fixed truck? They are drunk.

Another 7k and you could by new.

That's crazy money for a salvage title truck I didn't pay that much for my new 2017 sr5, point of going this route is usually because its a really good deal. I'm with everyone else...pass that truck up.

No deal...stay away...the back story comes with the truck...you will have to deal with it when you sell...they should pay you to take it off their hands...

The corner of the cab is dented as well...

    Go buy a clean truck...

    I agree with everyone else.
Also those are some low quality pictures which is another turn off for me.

It’s a Tundra you can probably find a 15 with 30k+ on it for less than that and it last longer than you might keep it.

I have owned a Toyota Camry with a salvage title once. It performed exceptionally well. I had no problems with it whatsoever. However, down here in Florida, the insurance companies do not like to insure salvage title vehicles. If they do decide insure the vehicle, it’s at a much higher premium, and they will not give you full coverage, or the type of coverage that you want on the vehicle.

I do also agree with the others that the asking price for that 15 model is way too much money. The insurance companies will never give you that type of coverage to cover any he loss of that vehicle for the money that you would have spent on purchasing the truck.
