I have a 2007 Tundra crewmax with the JBL system but no nav. Looking to mount a 14.1 inch Samsung S9 ultra in front of the existing radio. I know this is a huge screen, but my other vehicle is Tesla Model 3, so I am used a large protruding screen. I might go with the S9+ at 12.1 inches if a better fit. What I am trying to figure out is if there is any benefit to replacing the current JBL head unit with a more modern single din model. I know it would offer Bluetooth connectivity, but I also can just connect the tablet to the existing 3.5mm Aux port. I believe wired is usually higher quality then Bluetooth, but not sure if all Aux are the same. I know I would also need a USB-C to 3.5m cable with dac since the tablet lacks a 3.5mm port. Besides the Bluetooth vs 3.5mm question, I also want to replace the speakers and sub. I assume I should do the amp at the same time. Would a newer head unit make sense at that point? I don't need one with a colorful screen or android auto since the tablet will serve that purpose.

I know I would also lose the steering wheel controls in this setup except for volume control.

Thank for any help you audio pros can provide.
Some may ask, why not just get a 10 inch Alpine, Sony, or Pioneer. I am put off by the barely HD resolution screen. Plus, I can easily bring the Samsung inside and use for other things since the Tundra is no longer my daily driver.

Edit: oops, i didn't read that last sentence, lol
why not something like the kenwood dmx-1037s or the exceleron equivalent...10" screen with all the goodies (wireless android auto/carplay)? Get the maestro unit and keep all your steering wheel controls.
I have the dmx-1037s and its been great! Not complaints on the screen resolution.

if you really want to go for the tablet, install (recessed) the sony rsx-gs9 and mount the tablet infront of it.

Go watch some Soundman youtube videos, he does dash kits (diy) for ipads, i bet he would make one for the S9

Thanks for the info. Do I need something so robust as the Sony rsx-gs9? Might the Sony DSX-GS80 work?

It is much cheaper and would allow me to put more dollars towards the amp and speakers. Is it a waist to replace the HU at all?Is the JBL power enough to stay as the HU and just upgrade amp, speakers, and sub? The audio system world is a rabbit whole of sorts with all the options. DSPs, bi amps, crossovers, etc.
