Does it have to be in front? We always screwed ours into the bed rails.

You are going into the dunes?

I would say to do it correctly? New offroad type bumper and a skid plate.
You need to protect the front end of that truck and also give you additional towing mount points.

As an added benefit, there's lots of metal then to connect some piping or a mount for the flag.

Dont they "have" to be mounted to the front? If they were able to go in the back, trailer hitch pole mount would do it.

Anyone figure this out yet for Silver Lake and their "front-most portion of the vehicle" requirement for safety flags other than suction cups and a new bumper?

For Silver Lake sand dunes which requires your flag to be mounted up front I ended up using two stainless nutserts installed on the OEM aluminum bumper bar and ran 12" flat bar through the front grill. Combined with a 103" Handy Flag it gets me close to 11' height and I can install or remove everything in well under 10 minutes. Or you can just use sticky whips suction cups but I was bored this winter and needed a project and didn't want to mess with suction cups.
