I just put a down payment on a Scout Olympic slide in camper.
Unfortunately, it wont be ready till next spring due to demand.
Fortunately, that gives me enough time to upgrade my suspension to manage the weight.
I estimate our total gear + camper to land a little shy of 2000 lbs.

Any recommends on how best to manage this weight for Maine's north woods?
    My Tundra's a 2017 Limited 5.7 with tow package and 6.5 bed.

    Thanks JVK

E rated tires and either air bags or a new leaf pack. If your limited has 20s I’d suggest down sizing to 18s and going with an LT275/70R18 tire.

Seat covers, dash mat, ext. Trans. Cooler, sumo springs, oem pwr fld tow mirrors
Dobinson's HD leaf packs, yellow sumo springs for bump stops, and HD roadmaster active suspension. I have this trio and it simply works well with 2400 lbs in the bed. Also have BDS traction bars to control axle wrap. Bilstein 5160 shocks w/ res. E Rated yokohama geo 15 tires.

2014 Tundra w/ Fox 2.5 Coilovers + Total Chaos UCAs
Congratulations! We just picked up our Scout in OR a few weeks ago and love it. To answer your suspension question - it will really depend on how you are going to use it. At a minimum 10 ply, E Rated tires and some Ride-Rite Airbags (or something similar - E.g. 2mchfun has Sumo Springs). If the Scout is for occasional use + it's not too loaded down you might be happy w/ just that.

I have a 2014 double cab 4x4 (under 1,400 lb payload) w/ BFG All Terrains, Total Chaos UCA's and Fox 2.5 coilovers w/ reservoirs (front), and Fox 2.0 w/ reservoirs + Ride-Rites & Daystar cradles (rear). The Tundra did fine from Portland to Southern CA w/ this combo. We did some light off-road the first week and again it handled fine.

We just took the Tundra to Atlas Springs in LA and they added two leaf springs to each side... This was a game-changer. It went from handling "fine" to handling really well....silky. We have two speed bumps + a big drainage dip on our street. Going down our road before and after the new springs was REALLY noticeable. The trade-off is I imagine when I take the Scout off and hit those same speed bumps the rear end of my truck is going to handle like a brick! Jolt!!

Pick up the Scout w/ good E-rated tires and some Airbags (easy to install yourself relatively cheap if you are a little mechanically inclined>>YouTube vids)... See how it handles. Think about taking it to a spring shop (e.g. Deaver, Atlas, etc) if you are going to leave the Scout on your truck full time. Just my $$.02 and experience so far - there are lots of ways to approach it.

Let us know how it goes when you get it!
