Was pulling in the garage tonight and accidentally forgot to pull in the mirrors so the drivers mirror hit the stucco. It left some scratches on the driver mirror. What do you guys think I could do to fix this? Is it possible to replace just the mirror outside (glossy part?)?

Just a little update, I’ve tried to wash it really well and doesn’t look any better. It’s on the bottom portion below the turn signal so the cheap covers won’t work. Any good gloss touch up paint or will the whole mirror have to be replaced? How much for that? This is a powered mirror with blind spot monitor.

Pretty sure the bottom portion comes off. A few guys had them fall off on early production builds that had cameras in them. Could pull it off and have it repainted. Of get some factory touch up paint and see how it looks. Dark colors hide the touch up pretty well sometimes.

Best advice to you, leave it. After that there will be many more scratches and dents, regardless of how careful you are, you or someone else is going to screw it up. Its inevitable. I know I've managed to put two scratches in my truck. Mine is going on six years, hell i don't even wash it anymore. Just too damn busy with life, nothing stays pristine forever.

Take it to a detail shop. That will come out no sweat. I saw a detail shop wet sand a car that got keyed by a disgruntled wife....you would never know.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
Maybe take it to your local body shop? They have the capability to wet sand and buff out back to a gloss.

Cheaper than buying a side mirror. I checked into buying a side mirror for a friend and a single side mirror with turn signals and heated mirror with blind spot, pwr. fold is $1,500 each.

Yea I saw the whole mirror is very expensive as well. That’s why I’m hoping someone knew how to remove just that plastic piece and replace that part. Otherwise, does anyone know a good black gloss touch up paint that works with our mirror gloss color?

Haha I did the exact same thing on my mirror, hit it on the garage. I don’t have the power folding mirrors either. I just left it so far, so much to do I just forgot about it until now.

Anyone have an idea how to remove that bottom portion only? Or what the part number is for order?

What’s everyone’s opinion on using rubbing compound to get the lifted part gone and then use a black paint pen over and over to fill the indentations and rubbing compound to smooth after each application? And then finish with polish and wax? It won’t match perfectly but I think it might do the job where if you aren’t looking for it, you won’t see it?

Definitely worth trying to fix yourself first. If it doesn’t work another idea would be to try to source the scuffed portion through a junk yard. It’s now possible to search a nationwide network of junk yards using online search tool.

Ignore it and move on. It’s a scratch. Does the motor still work? Does the transmission still shift? In the big scheme of things a scratch is minuscule.

Well, I went out this morning and did the running compound, paint, polish, and wax idea. It actually worked really well and made it mostly smooth. If you weren’t looking for it, you wouldn’t really see it anymore.

    I used:
    Meguiars ultimate compound (several coats)
Duplicolor generic black pen (2 coats with rubbing compound in between and after)
    Meguiars polish
    Meguiars tech wax

let me know what you think of the result compared to the original groves and scratches
