Hi All. I have a 1st gen extra cab Tundra and the seat belt height adjuster will not work. You pull the little latch out and it stays locked. I was wondering if any of you has disassembled one successfully. Being from the dealership world we only replaced the seat belt assembly. I need it higher I'm 6,4. Thanks

That’s a first, but nope. FSM should tell you if it’s not intuitive.

Since some changes were made from 00-06, what year do you have ? Also for FSM purposes, when you say extended cab, would that be same as double cab ? The FSM only speaks of Access, Standard or Double.

This is pic of 04 DC Driver seat belt adjuster....is this similar to yours ?

It's a access cab. I've worked with a lot of the other types. It appears to be a sealed unit. I'll replace it and then dissect the old one. Then we'll know. Thanks

Yeah, not having a B-pillar makes for a weird dongle hanging off the roofline.

Mine has been making a weird noise ever since I've owned it. It sounds almost like ... imagine a ball bearing wheel that's dry, and as the wheel lets out or draws in slack, its hub spins, and the bearings fall into each other each other. Wish I could get it on film but it never seems to carry over. Lifting the dongle/arm thingy (spinning it counterclockwise towards the headliner) makes it go away, until it eventually falls back down to resting position again.

Wish I knew what the hell that noise was. It only does it with mine. At first I thought it was the safety gear/pendulum thing in the base that locks the belt during impact. But it's clearly coming from the dongle/arm thingy as the belt retracts and pulls.

Yeah. The setup is really unique compared to most vehicles. And completely sealed. I recon the only fix is replacement

Correct me if I’m wrong but maybe when you get the top off the underside back cover can be pulled off as well for full access?

I had an old 89 Honda Prelude once that had a similar issue.

I called the dealership and asked them if seatbelts were covered for life as a government mandated safety item. They ordered me one and put it in for free.

Maybe you can try this route and see what happens! My car was old and high mileage at the time!
