Secaine Android Radio Customer Support

Just want you all to know I am getting garbage support from Secaine since wifi stoped on my radio. See attached.

 

Just a rundown. several weeks ago the wifi button stopped working. So i can no longer hot spot my phone to the radio. This means i have no internet to the radio now and most of the apps i use wont run. I believe the internal modem has died. I just gave this radio positive reviews on all my platforms as it has functioned flawlessly for almost 2 years. The response i have received as you can see from their support is well below acceptable. I have requested an updated flash or a solution to the issue, but apparently i have to wait 2 months for the engineer to get back from holiday. Hell i wish i had holiday like that. Apparently they only employ 1 engineer who is the only one who can answer questions about their products. I call BS.... I guess i will be buying a radio from another manufacturer since this is going nowhere.

 

I’m not sure how much help youd get over messages from someone who it appears English is not their first language. Is there a warranty? It seems to me like cheap Chinese electronics that broke.

 

You are absolutely correct, but then again all of our electronics are made in China. I work in the Automotive field and they are close to shutting down due to the chip shortage from the Chinese factory burning to the ground. The warranty i believe is expired after a year since the Chinese know their products typically don't make it past that. Their is no real quality built into their products because we Americans will just buy a new one.

I have actually been asking for information about that dongle. I do not want to buy a sim card for just the radio. Now i was thinking that that modem dongle should act as the network adapter and receive the wifi hot spot with no sim card since the phone is supplying the connection.
Is there anyone with experience with these USB Modem dongles ? Can this be done to bypass the internal modem in the radio >?

 

So i have an update.. My Wifi magically started to work again this weekend. After i noticed it wanted to work it was still not providing internet though now it said it was on and connected to my hot spot. So i did a factory reset while i had something positive happening. Now it is working correctly as before. Not sure why or what happened but i am at least back in business other than putting all my apps back in.

 

Could it be temperature related, somehow?

 

My wife made that suggestion since its 10 degrees here currently, but my immediate response was it failed 2 or 3 weeks ago, and it has become colder now than then. So why would it start working the colder it has become. Its quite possible that is an answer, but when the vehicle interior warms up the electronics should normalize especially when current begins running through it. I will keep an eye on it and report any further issues. At least every function has returned for the last 2 days.
At any rate that would rule out my thinking the modem has died, because quite frankly dead electronics don't rise again on the 3rd day. Once dead they cant fix themselves. Even as cold as it is the unit is still in rated operating temperature per the manufacture spec.

Well... Got in truck after work and the wifi is gone again... Tried factory reset and this time it did not fix the issue. I am now looking into an MCU update if i can get one from the crappy customer service. If that is a no go i will try the usb modem dongle. If that doesnt work i will be getting a new radio and it will not be a secaine.

 

Well that suck big time. Were you able to locate any mcu on xda-developers.com?

 

Not yet.. I am going to try to make the attempt today but im sure it will be a process since its china and the responses are at the least 48 hrs.

 

Good luck to you. Chinese New Year is going on. So you may or may not get a response until March.

 

They should have to cancel their holiday the same as everyone else in the world and give me customer support !
I sent an email with pictures, ill post the response when it arrives.

The t'eyes cc3 look fancy. Support isn't as great over here since not many people have them. They are popular in russia and asia though.

Dont know if you care about carplay or android auto, but these unit doesnt seem to mention support for it. If it does, you woulsd need the dongle for it.
worth checking out. Also, it's a universal radio with vehicle specific dash panel. Doesnt come with any vehicle specific harness for plug 'n play. So it can be tricky to install for reverse camera and swc without canbus.

I have been looking at 2 Hizippo and Joying. My issue is that the Tundra radio is somewhat custom. This is the reason i went with the Secaine for aesthetics.
I run a galaxy s9+ phone and use it to hot spot to the head unit. So apple products do not matter to me. Everything i use was apps on the head unit and the phone supplies the internet Wifi. So im still looking.. I am on a few android fourms currently looking at MCU updating this unit. Have to be careful as to not Brick it. Secaine support is nearly non existent. I will keep the post going as i go through a possible Flash of the MCU.

I liked that this one has the factory contour but there is a larger 10" that sticks out a bit more. The photos were taken when the Wifi worked not it has a line through it.

I have the joying unit. Same as the one you posted but previous model. I like it. I too tether the internet and use the radio for everything.
Hope you can find some updated mcu for your seicane.
Joying support is surprisingly good. At least they respond with some kind of solution.

Found this thread. Give it a read. Last page had link to latest firmware. Maybe it could work on your unit. If the MCU us the same version.

Hey thanks i am actually on that forum as well. Its still 10 degrees here so i am considering the temperature though that has never been an issue before.
I did a hard restart of the system yesterday and no wifi. So i opted to update the MCU to the 3.30 version and i now have Wifi back. The system was a bit crazy for a few hours but after 3 more reboots it straightened out and everything seems to be working as normal. I will monitor it over the rest of the week and give feedback.
The sad part is that i am probably going to get this fixed myself before the Chinese customer support get back to their jobs.
