Last week, I returned to Tundra-ville as I sold my ‘13 FJC and got a pretty good deal on a ‘19 Platinum Tundra in Magnetic Gray. I’ve owned a 1794 in Magnetic Gray with TRD Off-road package, and loved it, yet wanted to go less chrome with a darker interior this time.

My 1st grade son has dubbed the new ride, “The Bat Truck.” While I’m not interested in modding it so it can fjord rivers (ala the Bat Rambler), I’d like to do some shocks and maybe exhaust and tire (K02?) changes to make it more like a “Platinum Pro” (I’ve seen that name on another thread). As part of my deal, the dealer threw in the rear TRD sway bar (they said the front TRD sway bar couldn’t be used?), drop in bedliner and bed divider plus the Predator tube steps. I will be pulling a mission team tool trailer sometimes for church, so any mods need to keep that in mind.

I’d appreciate your recommendations. Thanks in advance!

If you are pulling any kind of load I would invest is some air bags for the rear.

Wheels and tires are a must for me along with a leveling kit. KO2s are still a good tire choice although expensive.

Bed cover ranks high on my list, I have a rolling one now and will be going back to a old style painted one soon. I just done have anything good to say about any roll up cover anymore. I have had a lot of them.

Do you like the chrome, if not mirror covers and door handles color matched look great.

Window tint is another big one, I don’t know the laws in KY.

    Really there is no end!

Thanks so much, Jody. Do you have any recs per the air bags? Cost? How about upgrading the shocks? I do like the chrome that is on it - it’s just enough, so I doubt I’ll black out the mirrors. Some extra window tint is likely. And which hard bed cover do you prefer? Like everything else, there are too many choices.

Firestone Riderite for air bags and I believe they are less than 300 for the set, now you can double the price if you want an on board compressor.
I’m leaning toward the Undercover Elite LX for my next bed cover.
