The cameras on the truck are great but I cannot figure out how to get the side view mirror camera to come on the main display when I use the turn signal. This is how it works on my old GMC and Tesla Y but so far I can only get it to temporarily show the side cameras as a split view with both side cameras when I press the camera button but not with the turn signals. Please tell me this is not another step backward from my other modern vehicles.

what do you want a camera to come for when your signal is on? you need to look where your going not at the dash?

but to answer your question, I don't think this system does that

Hondas had that feature for several years and called it "Lanewatch". There was a cam in the passenger side mirror housing pointed back into the blind spot area and came on with the right turn signal. My GF's 2015 CRV has it and it is a cool and helpful feature. But Honda started phasing it out in 2019 or so, in favor of BSM mirrors. I actually would prefer to have Lanewatch. Or both.

I could stick my arm out the window as a turn indicator as well...

I hardly ever looked at the side mirrors unless I was towing. The side view camera on the screen gives me a wider and longer field of few including the blind spot at one quick glance. The latest update on the Tesla now has an additional red bar indication which is an even better improvement.

Did you test drive your Tundra before buying it? Wouldn’t you have noticed this then?

At the end of the day man, you purchased a Tundra, not a Tesla, so you shouldn’t be comparing an apple to an orange.

I understand your frustration completely though! I ordered the R1T the same time I ordered my Tundra. Little did I know that the R1T, which costs 20K more than my Capstone, couldn’t even fit my smallest 12ft Little Giant ladder in the bed in any orientation. What the heck can I do with that “truck”?

I would also love to have the bells and whistles of a Tesla as well! I get frustrated every time I try to use the Lane Tracing Assist because its like trusting my 8 year old on keeping me center. But you know what? I knew what I was buying beforehand and I freaking love it. I wouldn’t trade it for any other truck ATM.

the PR reason was that toyota didnt like the metrics CP/AA was pulling from owners while using the feature.

take that how you will :)

what will snowflake do when those mini monitors go out, god forbid they have to turn their heads to look.

not the same as a full time side mirror but ...

hyundai had a system in place already somewhat when you use a turn signal and the camera comes on in the MID showing the blind spot via camera. they have it on other models but this was the first model i remember having it with the best implementation
