Anyone speak with their service department about coding in sequential turn signals on the rear taillights for those who don't have the upgraded light package?

To my understanding it's a completely different light and harness. And they are not cheap.

Ugh... Not that it's all that important. Was hoping for a little luck. Makes sense though.

@Roman may be able to confirm. But he priced out the new tails for me and it was ridiculous for basically just sequential turns lol

have to remember anything not ordered from the factory is always going to be 3-5x time cost of the factory price thru the parts dept since you cant actually order any item as a kit. it has to be ordered as individual parts. even some PIO items can cost 2-3x time the window sticker price.

there was a discussion in the 2.5 gen thread about getting a KG option running boards after the fact (classic running boards black like the ones on our 2018 platinum). the factory cost was $595, ordering thru the parts dept. cost around $1100-1500 depending on who you ordered from.

Bringing back a thread from the dead to see if anyone has looked further into this. Or if anyone has actually successfully swapped the rear tail lights for the upper trim sequentials...

I was looking at the wiring diagrams again and I wasn't able to find a CANBUS line. Can you confirm? I have a broken tail-light on my SR5 and was considering the sequential upgrade. thx.

My 22 Limited had sequentials, I believe its in the Limited Premium Package. It comes as a standard feature on Platinum and above.

I’m pretty sure taillights are plug n play. Headlights on the other hand is a different story with can-bus

canbus is nothing fancy, all its doing is allowing diff voltage to lights and signals from 12v

eventually the aftermarket companies that make canbus adapters will catch up, hopefully in the future you can "plug and play" the fancy headlights with just a wire harness - it maybe awhile since the tundra is the smallest market share

It's a very simple change. There are two machines screws that hold the taillight into position, and there are three clips that hold the wiring harness to the light. You can free the clips using needle nose pliers. Then simply squeeze and unplug the connector. The left-hand light (81560-0C200) comes with the tailgate button but of course there is no wiring harness to connect it to. I can post pictures if folks are interested but its really simple. I looked at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za_FZSOckCQ

No offense, but what exactly do you mean by this? I've seen you state this more than once. What exactly do you believe CANBUS is? CANBUS is basically a networking protocol that allows all of the different ECUs in the vehicle to communicate with one another.

Google is your friend, stop reading into all the other canbus negativity threads and research.

The canbus does what? Your partially correct but understand what does it do for the headlight after taking signal from the ECU.

Again all it's doing is changing voltage.

Not rocket science, many aftermarket companies already have wiring harness for OEM canbus lights.

The tundra market is like 1/10 of other 1/2 tons so it will take awhile before companies even attempt to do r&d, since they would be better suited to make Ford/gm/Chevy/fca harnesses first since the owner population for those are like 10:1

Another bump from the future. Looks like the aftermarket is starting to take off for the 2022+ tundra for parts. Just found some info on the Anzo Tail Lights for the current Gen and they look pretty good. Could not find a price on them yet, but I like them better than the OEM Sequential for sure. Keep an eye out for them.

then i think he should have pointed out that these lights dont have the tail gate release button. that may be an important feature you would be losing on install of these lights depending on the person buying them.

I have a 2023 Tundra SR Crewmax with a busted Tailight. This will definitely be an upgrade. Has anyone tried the Anzo Tailights yet?

Just circling around on this. Confirmed as in you switched yours and plugged in the sequentials and they fired right up and work the same as they would on a truck that had them from the factory?

    Thanks!
