Sequoia TRD Pro grill without VIN?

So I tried ordering a Sequoia TRD Pro grill from Boch Toyota South Parts online, but apparently they will only sell it to me if I have a VIN matching ‘18-21 TRD Pro Sequoia. I know Toyota does this with a few parts like Heritage bronze wheels, which I think is aggravating but oh well. I placed an order last night for the grill and another $1000 in parts and received an email this morning :

“Toyota very strictly monitors the movement of part. number PT363-0C200-GY. We will require a valid VIN showing that this item came factory equipped with it, to complete your order. We will place your order on hold until you reach out to us with the information.”

Anybody know where I can get the grill without providing a VIN? I read through several of the threads here on swapping the grill on to my ‘13 so I know folks are/were able to get them at some point. I’m not willing to spend $700 for one on eBay or Amazon. I like the way my truck looks but decided to freshen it up after Bambi decided get in a fight with my front end. (Bambi lost, but made a nice meal for some coyotes…). Thanks.

I tried Sparks first but I thought they discontinued them. But I’ll check again. Maybe I’m misremebering. Thanks for the for the suggestion. I’m prolly thinking of wherever Roman used to sling parts.

I send this every time I order an OEM part.

VIN will not match parts ordered. This is a vehicle modification. I accept any non-returnable occurrences of items due to VIN not being provided as long as the part numbers ordered are shipped and received and or received undamaged.

Never had anyone tell me no after I send that.

Yes using a vin# off of a TRD pro from an online car listing works. I've done it before but for my Tacoma.

 

I thought about doing that. With my luck, they would look it up and see it listed for sale and blacklist me. I’m already blacklisted at my local dealer for letting the service manager show everybody how much of a chump he is.. I want trying to make him look dumb, just looking for correct info and I knew he was lying so I called him on it. They eventually deters me front their system even though I bought my truck from them. Haha. Oops.

 

I think Tandem off-road sells them too online.

 

Looks like Tandem Off-road sells them, but for a premium. And stock is very limited.

I replied to Boch Toyota using @Taco-Spike canned response. I also offered to find them a working VIN; didn't feel quite right about sending them a random VIN unless that's what they really want.

And as I was typing that out they responded saying, just send us a VIN... Ok.

 

Still waiting on an order update. The provided order link still says "In Progress" 10 days later. I don't think they are gonna bite. Guess I need to find somewhere else to order a wheel speed sensor so I can get my ABS and 4wd working again. I mean, it's been convenient to just get in the truck, start it up, and start fishtailing around every corner. But not so much having to stop, put it in park, turn the truck off, switch the 4wd knob, turn the key to On, wait for 4wd to engage, then start it up and go...

 

I, too, am trying to hunt one down. Managed to buy one off eBay only for the seller to get back to me the next day to say that upon ordering “it’s on national back order with no current eta”. So I just cancelled. I guess I could have waited it out since they didn’t need a vin but I hate sinking a cost without a delivery date. Tried Tandem Off-road, they’re going to get back to me but I anticipate them running into the same prob.

 

Any updates on getting the TRD pro grill without the vin?

 

I was able to pick one up through a local accessories and customs shop in San Jose. It took about 5 weeks to come in.

Within that waiting period because I wasn’t sure if they’d be able to get it from me I had two failed eBay attempts where sellers had to refund me because they physically didn’t have it, my local Toyota dealer tell me no, and various online Toyota dealers tell me that even with a vin it was back ordered 5 months.

Before my TRD grill came in I was using an aftermarket one piece grill that came with raptor lights. Wasn’t bad, I just preferred the TRD.

Aftermarket grill is now for sale if there’s any takers!

The grille showed up from the dealer I noted above. Unfortunately, I'm still trying to track down the trim piece in my color as it's been on national backorder for a few months. I may just order the wrong color and have it painted.

 

What color are you looking for? I have an extra one in attitude black

 

That would would be awesome. I'm looking for MGM but I need to have some paintwork done anyways, so I can make it work. I'm interested in taking it off your hands. PM me with what you need for it.
