I have the opportunity to purchase my first Tundra, 2021 TRD package 30k miles. I have done research and see that places like Edmunds did not give this particular model year a very good score. I don’t see a lot of issues out there but wanted to check before I make another mistake. I bought a 2021 GMC Sierra that has been in the shop more time than it’s been on the road. Any feedback is appreciated thanks in advance

Let me guess, they complained mostly about creature comforts and lack of technology plus poor fuel mileage. Nothing changed in 21 that I'm aware of.

Pat, welcome from another new member. Where in the country are you looking at purchasing it from? I recently looked at a Ford F-150 from the Chicago area with 76k on it that had bumper to bumper rust but another Tundra with many miles had a really nice frame.

Welcome from West MO. You can't go wrong with the 21. Sure it's a bit behind on electronics and gets bad fuel mileage, but it'll run forever.

If you buy it & don’t like it then trade it. Tundras hold their value. I love my tundra & I don’t think it’s much different from a 2021 model.

Had a Bells and Whistles GMC Sierra and issues with the electronics before 40k. Sold it with 7 recalls, the lane departure not working and a couple other gremlins.

Any low marks are due to it being largely an older design and having poor fuel economy. Mine is a great truck. I have an SR5 with the TRD offroad package. It has CarPlay, dual climate, push button start with smart handles, led headlights. That’s about all I need. I guess I’d take some seat heaters for the winter, but I can add those if I want.

Yes, go for it. Just hit 36k on my SR5 2021 TRD Sport, not been to the dealer one time. Routine maintenance all done at home where it's done right.

Welcome to the forum from Dallas.
I'd buy it over a newer Gen 3 (2022 and up).

2021 is the last year the Tundra had a 5.7 V8, or any V8 at all.
If gas mileage is a concern, don't buy a V8..:burnrubber:

I love my 2014, 110K miles and no issues.

Truck is versatile. Lots of mods available for what direction you want to go.

    It is a solid truck.

Biggest drawbacks you can't mod your way out of are
    1. MPG
    2. Payload

Only if you want reliability and a truck that feels like a truck.

Echoing everything above. Make sure it's a good deal as well. Even if you over pay though, they still hold their value better than any other half ton out there.

Keep in mind there's no external transmission cooler so if you plan on towing and are concerned with the cooling, that is something you can always add on after you buy it.
