Right now I have a 2012 tundra which is the cm 4wd rock warrior 5.7, I been thinking of getting an older tundra with the 4.7or a 4runner with the 4.0. Can the older tundra tow also as much as my current tundra? I occasionally tow a trailer which is a 6x12 enclosed trailer. Can a 4 runner Also tow that?

I want a vehicle with less things to go wrong where I think the 4.7 may less longer then a 5.7, my truck is paid off.

    my tundra has 143k miles.

Keep your paid off 2012. Good advice, the first generation are nice trucks but I would worry about getting parts for it in the futurel

My 4.7 first gen was (is) a great truck, and it towed my 5,500 lb travel trailer adequately for 6 years, but no... the difference in towing between it and my '19 5.7 is night and day.

    245 HP/315 TQ vs. 381 HP/401TQ - Huge difference
Bigger brakes, more gears, longer wheelbase, etc. - No comparison.

I loved my 1st gen, but that's just not a fair fight.

Haven’t we already been down this road OP? You were able to pay the truck off after the double trade fiasco from earlier? Keep the paid off truck, if it really is.

Keep your 2012. It will last you a long time and is more capable for towing. If it's paid off, that's even better!

Definitely keep what you got. If there are no issues with the one you got why get rid of it and potentially get someone else’s problem?
