Dealership wants to replace the engine wiring harness for $3,100. Anyone have experience with this

Experiencing loss of power slow acceleration, engine hesitation or jerking during acceleration, erratic idling, and it will actually go dead in low idle situations.

Have you tried a maf looks like they’re less than $100 online? Have looked at it with a code scanner? I’m not sure on Toyota but on gm vehicles you can unplug the maf and it will just use set fuel trims but it will still run ok.

Try cleaning the maf before you buy one.

Ask the dealership for the health report from Techstream. The diagnostic software will tell you “what the truck thinks is wrong” and that’s where you start.

To just throw a $3,100 harness at it with out even knowing for sure if it will fix it is not a good idea.

Could it be a wiring issue, yes but until I see significant damage to the engine harness I am not replacing it. The wiring is not some magical thing it just serves as a communication/signal line between the sensors and ECUs of the truck.

Pinpoint what the issue is then go start replacing parts.

That harness better be cut in half or melted before a dealer convinced me to do that. It could literally be one broken wire that can be fixed in 10 minutes. The hard part is finding it
