Anyone have the part numbers handy for the stock steel skid plate and any associated brackets/screws/clips? My truck was ordered with the TRD skid plate and it's a royal pain in the ass for maintenance.

Huh? The TRD skid has a removable access panel allowing the skid to stay in place and access the oil filter housing. What maintenance are you doing where a stock skid will be easier to manage?

Putting the TRD sway bar on required taking the skid plate off. And it's a pain with all the standoffs. It also managed to collect about a quart of oil on top of the skid plate between the drain plug and filter change.

I've had the RCI stuff previously for my ford. They make good stuff but I don't do any off roading so it's overkill and expensive. I had the normal steel skid plate on my 2020 TRD sport and was happy with it.

I'm guessing I need the "front bumper chrome plated type". That looks like what was on my TRD sport that had the same paint matched bumper as my platinum.

you're talking like the TRD OR skid? not the TRD Pro type with red letters?

I have the TRD skid plate. Big chunky aluminum with red letters. I want the regular stamped steel.

I’d think you could find someone willing to trade. Post your location in the thread title and I’d bet someone will come swap them for you. I finally threw mine in the garbage.

If you were closer I'd give you mine. I took it off when I added the TRD Pro skid plate. Not sure what shipping would cost.

The trd off road skid plate is an ornament; serves no purpose whatsoever and isn’t protecting anything. If you’re looking for one I am sure some have removed it and will offer it for the cost of shipping. As far as I know, it isn’t often that people ask for or purchase these. If I can find mine you can have it for the cost of shipping

This is what annoys me about the TRD skid plate. Level driveway, no wind, didn't jack the truck up. It still manages to dump a quart of oil into the skid plate and dump it on the driveway. At least I was smart enough to do it on gravel instead of concrete this time.

I thought it had a piece you could unbolt (hexheads) take the door off and oil would not do anything nasty stuff?

I do not remember the oil going nowhere except into the oil pan.

The door is for the oil filter. But it will still get oil in the pan. That spillage is just from the drain plug. I change the oil every 5k miles but only do the filter every other change.

I've considered that but I let the dealer do the oil changes every 10k miles seeing it's still under warranty. When I had a fumoto valve on my Rubicon it seemed to confuse the shit out of dealers.

The regular skid plate was a PITA to do while on your back. It has these funky hooks you have to get just right. I went with the TRD and left the regular one out for the scrapers.

They can't deny warranty if they haven't seen your truck for oil changes. Not in this country. Last time dealer saw my truck is the day I bought it.

I wasn't so worried about the warranty as much as the lube tech trying to figure it out or failing to close it. I'm sure it wouldn't be a warranty issue unless something failed from an oil starvation issue.

I thought the regular skid plate was quite easy on my 2020. A few bolts, a few push rivets, and slide it to one side. The hooks are just so it doesn't fall on your face while you're getting the bolts started.

You get the keys, bend over and check if it's closed.

Or do all oil changes yourself.

Also don't cheap out on oil filters. You may be slacking and skipping every other 5k oil changes - fine, but the filter must be replaced.

I can't find the skid plate man. I must have thrown it out. If I come across it I will certainly let you know.

I sold my factory skid plate for $60.00 to a guy that had a Tundra without a skid plate. This was after installing an RCI skid plate on mine. The RCI skid plate is the real deal!
