Sliders-- what/ how did you protect yours, cost?

Please tell me what you used to coat/ protect your sliders:

Product, colour, time, cost.

You got some sliders for the tundra my friend?

 

I first cleaned my SDHQ sliders with brake cleaner, then acetone. I used Rustoleum automotive primer before doing paint.

Now I have to sell the SDHQ sliders or return them because they do not mount to the long bed frame. It sucks because I put all this time and money into them and they don’t fit. Let me know if anybody wants them. I am in Murrieta.

 

Getting close. Someone posted that SDHQ will raise prices on the next batch due to new tariffs, so I hope to get them before that happens. But I think they prefer to deliver raw, so I need a plan.

Anyone who's seen me off-road knows I should have sliders....

 

Confirming, unicorn = 8' bed?

 

I rattle canned mine. 2 can of primer then 2 cans of Duplicolor undercoater. The undercoat gives them a little grip for stepping on. My sliders get scuffed up quite frequently and this is really easy to touch up. Cost, about $20.

 

Had mine powder coated for $160. Top half is nice and pretty and paying $160 was worth not having to go through the trouble to paint these giant heavy sliders. Bottom half is all scraped up and I’ll just rattle can the bottom half.

 

You should swoop up @8MINT8 ’s sliders!!

Exactly. I usually find a piece of cardboard and hit just the scraped up area. I just read on the can that it's paintable undercoating. It tends to go a little grey with time but you could top coat with another color if desired.

 

Yes mine is the long bed. The three mounts for the frame in the back puts the front cab mount at the cross-member. Bummed us out because a tweak to the design would make it fit all tundra models.

Edit: Toyota put the added section to lengthen the frame between the cab mount and the first frame mount. If they would’ve kept all cab sections the same and added the section behind the cab area, the sliders would work.
