    Hello everyone, Happy New Year!

    I am considering moving to the Great White North (WI) and was thinking of putting a snow plow on my Tundra (2016 5.7L). Someone mentioned that I would need air bags on the front suspension to handle the weight. I have them on the back as I haul a 5th wheel but I need the opinion of you pros about putting them on the front.

    Any information you could give would be very appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hey there. I have a dk2 plow for my 5.7 without airbags.
    That being said, I do have heavier spring rate on my lift due to big old steel bumpers (Old Man Emu 613’s) When I lift my plow, the front settles maybe half inch.
    Also that being said, I bet it would be fine on stock. The plow doesn't add weight unless in the lifted position, they push snow-not really adding weight there. After some practice with mine, I don’t even lift it up anymore when I’m turning around or whatnot. Just set it and go.
    I’m not too sure which plow your looking at, unless it’s a heavy duty commercial unit and/or your plowing on the daily I bet your ok.

    I’ll tell ya one thing for sure, you can get a plow, run it with stock suspension, then upgrade suspension later if needed after your stockers are beat.

    I ended-up on another thread somehow but they gave great advice too. I have got some research ahead of me but my big incentive is a snow shovel and a sore back :)
    Thanks!

    give some consideration to the rest of your yard maintenance chores... I went with a 42" 2 stage snowblower on a zero turn lawnmower and keep the wear and tear off my truck(s).

    I had this Boss plow previously on an 04 Silverado 2500 that rusted out. Initially, installed Timbrens up front but have since upgraded a Bossed out kit 6112s and stiffer front springs. The Tundra plows better from day 1.

    pics are pre-6112’s

    :thumbsup::thumbsup:
    I only plow a small 60 stall commercial lot and 5 long driveways.

    Actually started with that black 01 in the background and a homeowner spec Western Suburbanite plot plow. That plow and truck could not handle a 18-20” snowfall one year. We had to wave a guy plowing across the street to do our lot for $200. :facepalm:

    All the support braces on the western eventually cracked and the gen 1 tundra was retired from plowing. :thumbsup:
