Stupid question, but on the 3rd gen do you have a single or double air filter?

Looks terrible for performance, just going to suck in hot air.

Im picking up on you likely being facetious with this post, but it’s crazy how much a graph can be manipulated. I’d bet money on them doing the dyno run with the hood up which doesn’t force the intake to suck in all that hot engine bay air that it does with the hood closed. Great video on how dynos are manipulated by companies to sell products. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RrDJK9zue6c&pp=ygUPR2FsZSBiYW5rcyBkeW5v

Terrible idea open air filter in the engine bay. Keep the stock box and some upgraded drop in filters your IAT temps will thank you .

Yeah wonder if those dyno results were with the hood open and a fan blowing on it.

    Lots of stuff!
If you combine these air filters with a cat back exhaust, you might get a few extra horses.

What you will get is that cool turbo whine that makes a statement! It says "I am new in town, now make some room for the new sheriff" :)

I would love a louder intake but not with tradeoffs of open to the engine bay filters

The S&B and AFe intakes look way nicer. And thats coming from someone who very much dislikes AFe

I use to be the guy that bought into all this crap, but I always too it a bit further. S/C, NOS, H/C. In the end it was always the same, trying to make a 6k truck go faster. Cost vs speed gain was not worth it. It was fun but damn did it cost me. Now I just stay stock. OP, if you have a chance get a refund, especially the K/N garbage.

The turbo trucks can pick up a significant amount of power just from a $500 tune. But after that you start to go down the rabbit hole.

Sort of related - I emailed K&N and they said no tune was needed after installing the CAI. :notsure:

That is not a cold air intake. That K&N is a hot under hood air intake.

Waste of money, and likely a performance killer.

Only mod I can say is possibly worth is putting trd high flow air filters. Under 50 a piece and open breathing up a bit.
At the very least you get a little more turbo whistle and get a little more fuel mileage all fitting stock air enclosures.

I got two for 90 with ship and will see how it goes. They are also cleanable like k & n filters.

I kept getting different answers from people. Most people I talked to said yes to needing a tune because they said the increased air would mess up the air/fuel ratio. Apparently not lol.

No tune necessary, the ECU is quite capable of retarding timing due to higher intake air temperatures and limiting power.

TRD is a K&N copy. Hell they are probably made by KN. Oiled filters are bad news. I would have gone with a dry aftermarket filter. AFE I think has the dry s filters.

Oiled filters are fine if you know how to maintain them and not over oil.

No, that intake is not any different than the stock intake. Also a waste of money.

Nm, I guess that 17hp gain was done with the hood open.

The afe should be less affected by having the hood open than the K&N. Unless they removed the covers.
